play.”

to the students prior to the
discussion.)

c. Analysis

Today class we will be having a new topic. Today

we will discuss the novel entitled “Romeo and
Juliet.” By William Shakespeare. But before that
let’s have brief discussion of Shakespeare’s life.

He was an English poet, playwright, and actor,

widely regarded as the greatest writer in
the English language and the world's pre-eminent
dramatist. He is often called England's national
poet and the "Bard of Avon".

Here are some intriguing facts about Shakespeare:

- Nobody knows Shakespeare’s true

birthday. The closest we can come is
the date of his baptism on April the
26th, 1564. By tradition and
guesswork, William is assumed to
have been born three days earlier on
April the 23rd, a date now commonly
used to celebrate the famous Bard's
birthday.

- Shakespeare invented the

word "assassination".

- There were two Shakespeare families

living in Stratford when William was
born; the other family did not
become famous.

- Shakespeare, one of literature’s

greatest figures, never attended
university. - Yes Sir!

Now class, are you ready to discover the story

Romeo and Juliet?
- Yes Sir!
We will continue the task we had awhile ago
which is the “Dice of Luck”. I will play again a
song and when the song starts to play you will

4. Why does Mercutio hates Tybalt? - Sir, Shakespeare treats death in the story
tragically because both Romeo and Juliet
died.

5. How does Shakespeare treat death in

Romeo and Juliet? (The students listen carefully to the discussion.)

Very Good! It seems that you had read the story

prior to our discussion today.

Class, talking about tragedy as well as comedy it

deals with a conflict between an individual force
(which may be centered either in one character or
in a group of characters acting as one) and
environing circumstances.

In tragedy the individual (one person or a group)

is overwhelmed; in comedy the individual
triumphs. In tragedy, as in comedy, five stages
may be noted in the plot development: (i) the
exposition, or introduction; (2) the complication,
rising action, or growth; (3) the climax, crisis, or
turning point; (4) the resolution, falling action, or
consequence; and (5) the denouement,
catastrophe, or conclusion. Let it not be thought
for a moment that each of these stages is clearly
differentiated.

As a rule they pass insensibly into each other, as

they do in life. Especially is

this true in a play
like Romeo and Juliet,
where the weaving of the - Yes Sir! Because she’s always in my mind

Now class, let me ask you this question, had you

experience to fall in love with someone? How do
you say that you really fell in love with him/her? - Yes Sir! Because if you love someone you
must be willing to be with him/her even
until death.

Romeo/Juliet would you do the same thing he - Yes Sir! Because love is not counted by

was felt forever.

Very Good class! Thank you for your sharing

your insights. Remember that loving is a feeling
that is unpredictable you never when, where or
how will feel it but always bear in mind that there
is always the RIGHT TIME for it.
