INTRODUCTION

To be able to understand how is going to be life in Colombia in 2050, we must know

the past. What has taken us to where we are today and what has changed along
the way.

Colombia has changed a lot in the last years, but Colombians are driven by the
same basic needs as we were some years ago; food, sleep, sex, the feeling of
being appreciated and loved.

However, we have to take into account that human inventions have really made a
difference in the last years. Colombians and people in some part of the world are
using for entertainment, the inventions that have affected most people around the
world for everyday living are the telephone, electricity, radio, television, computer,
the car and the ability to communicate through Internet. Then we of course have a
lot of inventions that have made life easier, like new medicine, faster transports, etc.

Anyway, it is important to predict Colombia life in 2050 for two reasons; first we
need to start to think about what kind of future we would like for ourselves and to
pass on to the next generation, and then we need to know what decisions we need
to make today that will give the best result in the future in order to have a better
Colombia.
TECHNOLOGY

Technology in 2050 in Colombia will be radical. It will be totally different. We are just
at the beginning of the beginning of all these kind of changes. In Colombia there is a
sensation that all the big things have happened, but nothing big has happened yet.
In forty years approximately from now we will look many changes.

Flying cars is an example of a scenario that we will see in Colombia in 2050. It is a

great and exciting concept, but it is going to be realistic. Colombia is going to have
the best road network around the world for flying cars in the next 50 years.

Robots are going to make lots of things. Most of the things that are going to be
produced are going to be made by robots and automation. Nevertheless, we can
modify them and we can change them, and we can be involved in the coproduction
of them to a degree that we could not in the industrial age.

In 2050, Colombians are going to get in contact with aliens. It is most likely that
there are other life in the Universe considered there are billion solar systems. With
these numbers in mind there is no greater chance that they will make contact with
us and Colombia is going to be the favorite country around the planet to visit by
aliens.
TRANSPORT

Transportation technology is progressing at a slower pace than some of the other

sciences such as information technology and biotech. However, transportation
technology in Colombia is about to move ahead more rapidly in the coming forty
years.

Throughout history we have learned that the two principle driving forces of humanity
are freedom and control. While current automotive technology gives us the freedom
to drive as fast or slow as our vehicle will take us, and control over our timing and
direction, we are still restricted to driving on the ground. Understanding the freedom
and controldrivers is the key to understanding the future of transportation in
Colombia in 2050.

Automotive Colombian companies are going to be the best around the world and
are going to focus on fully automated vehicles where people can speak the place
we want to go to and the vehicle will automatically take us there. Also, gas powered
cars will start to disappear with electric automobiles and hybrids taking up most of
the slack.

In 2050, Colombians will see commercialization of the first friction free no moving
parts flying vehicles which will be considered by many to be the ultimate freedom
machine. Flying cars are going to be very much on the radar screen to become a
next generation automotive technology. They will begin with a more convenient
version of today’s airplanes and eventually converting over to the frictionless cars.
HEALTH

Health is our most basic human right and one of the most important indicators of
sustainable development. We rely on healthy ecosystems to support healthy
communities and societies. Well-functioning ecosystems provide goods and
services essential for human health. These include nutrition and food security, clean
air and fresh water, medicines, cultural and spiritual values, and contributions to
local livelihoods and economic development. They can also help to limit disease
and stabilize the climate.

It is not news that health is one of the most valued aspects of people’s life. Good
health enables us to participate as full citizens in our society. A healthy society is
capable of obtaining a quality education and finding gainful employment.

As we know, today many Colombian people do not have access to preventative

care; that means one in four has few options when things go awry; that means one
in four risks financial ruin due to illness. Race, income and educational attainment
and geographic location are the primary influences on the health of different
populations in Colombia.

However in 2050, Colombian is going to have the best doctors around the world and
they will be able to detect diseases at very early stages using innovative
technologies based on blood tests or imaging. It will be possible to predict individual
response to treatment, which means that we will be able to realize personalized
medicine.
CONCLUSION

Life in Colombia in 2050 will be as we project ourselves. The technology, transport

and health care industry will continue to grow in importance, both in Colombia and
around the world. New technologies, in particular, will play a key role in dramatically
changing the practice of medicine and improving people's health. Global health
information exchange networks will be put in place by 2050 to support the continued
growth of the global health care industry and to fight global pandemics.

By 2050, the process of health care will be substantially digitized and electronically
enabled. Managed care will switch from a restrictive gatekeeper approach to one of
highly automated care management.

Technology will enable managed care to better coordinate treatments in a more

cost-effective way. It will result in better measurement of outcomes which in turn will
result in improved clinical guidelines and documentation of best practices.

Well, as we know the winner in this life is not the person with the most money when
he dies; the winner is the person who sleeps best at night. To feel good about
yourself and the people around you, listen to them and show them the love and
respect they deserve as fellow human beings and help those in need. That is what
will matter when we go to bed at night in 50 years from now, and hopefully will give
you a good night’s sleep.
