Botox Pittsburgh

BOTOX® is a therapeutic agent derived from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. Also known as Botulinum
Toxin Type A, the brand BOTOX Cosmetic® is produced under controlled lab conditions, and the cosmetic
Botox Injections are administered safely in extremely small doses. BOTOX is not botulism and does not cause
botulism. BOTOX uses the purified chemical produced by the bacteria in a bioreactor to selectively relax the
muscles which cause facial wrinkles.

Botox Treatments in Pittsburgh

Botox Treatment, or botulinum toxin type A, is an injectable purified substance which diminishes wrinkles. If
you have unwanted wrinkles on your face, which show your age or cause other people to think you’re tired
when you’re not, Botox is a safe and easy solution. The best part is, it’s non-surgical! It only takes a few simple
injections, which you can have done on your lunch break in less than 15 minutes.

What does Botox help with?

Botox is designed to block the nerve signals which cause certain muscles in your face to contract. It’s these
very muscle contractions which cause wrinkles to develop on your skin as you age.

Specifically, Botox can:

Smooth wrinkles on your face, including furrows on your forehead and frown lines around your mouth
Smooth Crow’s feet
Smooth the skin bands which can develop on your neck

Botox can be combined with similar procedures to boost the results, or even to prevent new wrinkles, lines, or
creases from developing on the surface of your skin. These additional procedures include skin resurfacing
techniques, dermal fillers, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Speak to your doctor about what
procedures in addition to Botox, if any, will help you achieve your desired results or boost your Botox results.

What is the Botox procedure like?

The procedure usually takes less than 15 minutes. It is non-surgical, and consists of a few injections into the
muscles of your face. The number of injections you will have depends on the areas you would like to improve,
and the results that you desire.

Be sure to choose an experienced and professional healthcare provider for your Botox treatment. As Botox
blocks nerve signals to the specific muscles, and weakens the muscles themselves, it is critical that your
healthcare professional be precise in their location of the injection.

What is the Botox recovery period like?

Unlike surgical facial rejuvenation procedures, there really is no downtime or recovery period following a
Botox treatment. You will not be administered anesthesia or sedation, as the procedure is simply a few
injections.

As soon as your Botox treatment is complete, you may go back to your normal everyday life.
The only caution is not to rub or massage your face following the procedure, as the Botox substance that was
injected may move away from the intended location and into surrounding muscles. This can lead to
temporary facial weakness or sagging.

When can I expect to see Botox results?

The results of your Botox treatment should be visible within a few days, or up to one week, following the
procedure, and typically last three to four months. When speaking to your plastic surgeon about the
possibility of beginning Botox treatments, be prepared to discuss your expectations for the outcome of the
procedure, your health history, any current medications you are taking along with the doses, and any other
relevant health information such as supplements, vitamins, and herbal remedies you may be taking.
Your plastic surgeon Dr Golla will evaluate you for any health risks, and explain any possible risks and
complications associated with Botox treatments. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to remove
wrinkles, and return to a younger-looking appearance, Botox may be the solution for you.

Other novel new alternatives to Botox are: Dysport and Xeomin, which are similar to Botox in their proposed
effect. For more information about Botox, Dysport and Xeomin treatments in Pittsburgh, please call us at 412-
963-6677.
