OBJECTIVES

This experiment focuses on the operating principles and performance of the vapor-
compression refrigeration cycle. Refrigeration cycles are to be analyzed on the basis of 1st
and 2nd laws of thermodynamics. The actual cycle is to be compared with the ideal
refrigeration cycle.

From the experiment conducted, it is concluded that COP decreases with decreasing fan
speed. This conclusion was formed after multiple iterations. The compressor work must
be decreased to increase the COP. A more efficient compressor might do the job. Also, it
increases when refrigeration effect increases. That is, losses throughout the system should
be minimum.
