Create a 4 question interview to ask a partner about how often they do certain activities.
Stage 3: Learning Experiences/Classroom Activities
SUGGESTED LESSON ORGANIZATION (10 minutes)
ANY MATERIAL YOU REFER TO IN YOUR LESSON PLAN NEEDS TO BE ATTACHED
AND EVERY STEP MUST BE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL
The lesson needs to last 10 minutes. Because this is a modified mini-lesson, adjust or
remove activities as you deem appropriate for your lesson.
(2 minutes) REVIEW ACTIVITY: In pairs, students will Brainstorm 8-10 popular hobbies. We
will take their lists and read some of them to the class. Students will stand up if they like the
activity and sit down if they do not like the activity.
(2 minutes) TEACHER LESSON (I do): I will show students chart
I will have students take 4 notecards and write one of the words on the chart on each note
card. I will explain how these words tell us how often we do an activity. I will give examples
using the lists they provided about myself:
For example, I never play basketball. I always read books. I often watch TV.
Students will practice saying the words and repeating the words after me.
(2 minutes) STUDENT ACTIVITY (We do): Teacher will then read the lists again and have
the students lift the appropriate notecard to answer the questions about the hobbies.
For example: How often do you watch TV? How often do you play basketball? I will repeat
until I sense that most students understand.
(2 minutes) STUDENT ACTIVITY (You do): Students will write out 4 question interview using
the question prompt: How often do you_____? (I will write the question prompt on the board).
(2 minutes) STUDENT ASSESSMENT: Students will ask a partner their questions and the
partner will respond to their question using the correct adverb of frequency. Depending on
time, students will circulate to a new partner.
