1. Discuss whether the liquids used are Newtonian or Non-Newtonian.

 This experiment was using Salt Water(NaOH)and oil to measure the drag coefficient
between metal and ceramic sphere. So oil was a Newtonian liquid meanwhile salt water
was a non-Newtonian fluid . Because the differences between Newtonian and non-
Newtonian fluid are the fluid following the Newton’s Law or not . In this experiment oil
are obey the Newton’s Law meanwhile salt water was not.

2. What is the factor that might be cause error to the calculation of the Viscocity .

3. What is the relationship between CD and The Reynold’s Number.
 Relationship between CD and The Reynold’s Number are , reynold’s number increase
the CD are decrease.
4. Briefly describe the following terms :
 Terminal velocity : is the highest velocity that achieved by an object as it falls through
the fluid.
 Drag Coefficient : is a dimensionless quantity that is used to quantify the resistance of an
object in a fluid environment such as salt water and oil.
5.0 Conclusion & Recommendation

Conclusion

 From this experiment which to measure the drag coefficient of spheres over several decades of
particle Reynolds number and determine velocity terminal , the graph of the drag coefficient
versus Reynolds Number were obtained. The velocity of the sphere was increased when the
mass and diameter of sphere are increased. The increasing of the diameter also caused to
Reynolds Number to increased and decrease at y axis which is drag coefficient. It shows the
relationship between the Reynolds number and the drag coefficient.

Recommendation

 In fluid mechanics the drag coefficient is a quantity that been used to identify the drag or
resistance of an object in a fluid environment such as oil and water. The drag coefficient will
always relate with ah particular area. From this experiment we have identified a few error while
doing the experiment. First when measured the diameter of the sphere we have to measured it
two times and take the average value to avoid the paralax error. Second , when we take the
time taken of sphere to reach the bottom of cylinder. The error was when to take the time taken
there are a few reading that are away from the first, because of the sphere are too fast reach
the bottom and the time taken at the results we are obtained are not exactly accurate. I hope
that we are supplied with the stopwatch while doing this experiment.
