Wh at is R.A.T. M odel?
The R.A.T. Model is a tier framework similar to the SAMR model. While it has the same aspects of the
SAMR model, it simplifies it down for a more direct approach to help teachers. The R.A.T. model
stands for Replacement, Amplification, and Transformation. Replacement is the bottom of the tier
where teachers just replace paper and pen with a computer. Next is Amplification, where most
teachers tend to be with their instruction, where they use technology to increase effectiveness and
efficiency. Lastly, Transformation is where all teachers strive to be at where technology is used to
innovate new and create ways for instruction and assignments.
