What are the causes and effects of Child Abuse in the community of Glendevon, St.James?

 Task 2 - Reason for selecting the area of Research

Child abuse was selected because of observation made by the researcher in the community of
Glendevon, St. James. This social issue has taken over the Western region of Jamaica as well
as other parts of the country. Recently, there has been a large number of children in the
researcher’s community who are being abused by not only their parents, but neighbors,
friends and even relatives. These abuses have ranged from physical, sexual and verbal. As a
result, many children have become withdrawn. This has caused the researcher to conduct a
survey with hopes to find solutions to reduce child abuse in the community of Glendevon.

 Task 3 -Method of Investigation

In order to collect data from the survey, the researcher used printed questionnaires.A
questionnaire is a series of question used to gather information from repsondents. It also has a
number of advantages.
These include:
●It requires little time to be completed.
●It aids confidentiality as respomdents are not asked to give their name.
●It can be done at the convenience of the person completing the form.
