1. What is the constitution of the Philippines?


 The constitution of the Philippines is the constitution or also defined as the supreme law
of the Republic of the Philippines. The current constitution of the Philippines is
democracy that was restored and presented in October 15, 1986. This constitution came
into full force and effect February 11, 1987 after President Corazon C.

2. What is meant by Preamble? Bill of rights?


 Preamble provides a regulation to examine and evaluates any law and action of
government on both sides; positives (good) and negatives (bad). It is also the soul of
constitution. It is told that we should install a Government which shall “conserve and
develop our patrimony”.
 Bill of Rights is the Article III of the Philippine Constitution. It is guarantees civil rights
and liberties to the individual like freedom of speech, press and religion. It sets rules for
due process of law and reserves all powers not delegated to the Federal Government to
the people of the states.

3. Describe &/or differentiate the following Classification of Rights & give specific
example:
a) Political Rights
 Political Rights is a class of rights that protect individual freedom from
infringement by governments, Social Organization, and private individuals. They
ensure one’s entitlement to participate in the political life of society and the state
without discrimination or repression.
Political Rights include natural justice (procedural fairness) in the law such as the
rights of the accused including the right of fair trial; due process; the right to seek
redress or a legal remedy; and rights of participation in civil society and politics
such as freedom of association, the right to petition, the right of self-defense, and
the right to vote.

b) Civil Rights
 Civil Rights is the rights of citizens to Political and Social Freedom and equality.
It is essential components of democracy. They’re guarantees of equal social
opportunities and protection under the law regardless of race, religion, or other
characteristics.
Example are the rights to vote, to fair trial, to government services, and to a public
education.

c) Social & Economic Rights


 Social and Economic Rights are the rights that concerned with basic human needs
for food, shelter, water and for means to provide those things for oneself. We
recognize that a person who is starving, who is homeless, who does not have the
means to provide for their own basic needs cannot realize any other human right.
We demand dignity for all.
For example: the right to an adequate standard of living, including adequate food,
clothing and housing, the right to work, the right of everyone to form trade
unions and join a trade union, the right to social protection, the right to the highest
attainable standards of physical and mental health, and the right to education.

d) Statutory Rights
 Statutory rights is a right granted under the statue, whether federal or state.
Statutory means relating to statutes, which are laws enacted by legislature of
government body.
Example have a written employment agreement, housing,education, receipt of
credit, public accommodations, medical affliction, and retaliation.

4. Choose at least five (5) of the rights as a Citizens & briefly discuss each!

1. The right to life, liberty and property.


 This the right of God given and call never be taken or even given away.

2. The freedom against unreasonable and unlawful arrests and searches.


 It is by a law enforcement officer without a search warrant and without probable cause to
believe that the evidence of a crime is present.

3. The freedom of speech, press, assembly and religion.


 It guarantee freedom of expression by prohibiting congress from restricting the press or
the rights of individuals to speak freely.

4. The freedom to access the courts.


 It rule on access to information about the supreme court guarantees ones “right” to either
obtain a copy receive to all information and records or portions of those records in the
official custody, possession and control of offices in the supreme court.
5. Choose at least five (5) Duties and Obligations as a Filipino Citizens & comprehensively
discuss each!
1. It is the duty of every Filipino to engage in gainful work to assure himself and his family a life
of human dignity.
 It is the duties and obligation of Filipino Citizens by which certain individual need to
respect our fellow and to attain more courage such a good person and to show that we
give dignity to each of us.
2. Every Filipino citizen is asked to uphold this constitution, obey the laws of the land, pay taxes
and duties, and to cooperate with the duly constituted authorities in the attainment and
preservation of a just and orderly society.
 The rule of law is that everyone is under the law to obey the law, you must know the law
without laws our society would quickly collapse and the taxes pray for service, like fire
fighters and police, they build roads, and also public schools, tax money also pays for
national defense and military.

3. It is the duty of every Filipino citizen to defend the national territory from aggressive
invaders, protect the sovereignty of its people, and preserve the continuity of just,
humane society and government.
 The national territory comprises the Philippine archipelago with all the islands and water
embraces there in; and all the other territories belonging to the Philippines by historic
right or legal title. Including the territorial sea, the air space, the sub soil sea bed, the
insular shelves, and the other sub marine areas over which the Philippines has
sovereignty or jurisdiction, the waters around, between and connecting the islands of
archipelago irrespective or their breadth and dimensions form part of the internal waters
of the Philippines.
4. It is the duty of every Filipino to report to the proper authorities all plots of terrorism, plans of
rebellion, subversion, or insurrection toward the duly and legally acknowledge government, and
other acts that will compromise the union and sovereignty of the federal republic.
 The defense of the state is prime duty of the government and the people and in fulfillment
of this duty all citizens may be required by law to render personal military services.
Civilian authority is at all times supreme over the military.
5. It is the obligation of every Filipino, to report corrupt, dishonest, or fraudulent government
officials to the proper forum, courts and agencies. A Filipino shall not tempt to bribe government
officials, steal from the coffers of the government, or escape or abandon his lawful
responsibilities.
 If we vote don’t complain about the results. Many people gave their lives so we can vote,
making it an honor and responsibility. Voting tells the leader what we like and don’t like.
Our government is based on the consent of the governed and for being informed to vote
wisely you must be well informed of candidates, current events, key issues and current
politics.

6. What is the importance of inculcating in the Youth Patriotism & Nationalism, as well
encourage their involvement in public & civic affairs?
 The state recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation building and shall promote and
protects their physical and social wellbeing.
7. What is the role of the Youth in shaping the country’s destiny?
 One can say that the role of the youth in the nation is crucial. They are problem solving,
have a positive influence on other young people and the nation and are extremely
ambitious. They have the ability to create an identity for themselves and move the nation
forward.
