Module 1-A PERSONHOOD: Man’s Dignity and Value

Activity 1 – Song Analysis: Sino Ako?

After listening to the song, answer the following reflective questions:

1. How did you feel while listening to the song?

- I’ve got mixed emotions while listening to this song. At first, I feel
scared. Scared about death. Not my death but scared about losing
someone whom I truly love. My family, closest friends, and love ones.
I’ve got goosebumps while listening to this. I cannot imagine myself
losing someone forever whom I truly value. On the other hand, still, I feel
grateful that God let me live and discover His majestic paradise.

2. What message/values do you get from the song?

- It is for us to be reminded that our life is not our own. My life is
borrowed from God. That’s why I need to be prepared. And preparing
about death means doing great things in life that I will never regret. Love,
that’s what we truly need. To love and to be loved in accordance to the
will of God. Paying back with my parents for all the sacrifices they have
made. Love in my passion and living in my greatest dreams without
degrading someone’s life. So that when God allows me to rest forever,
then I will accept it for with Him I am in safe haven.

Module 1-B PERSOONHOOD: Stewards of God’s Creation

Activity 2 – Reflective Essay

Guide Questions:
How precious and valuable is my God-given life?
If you encounter with insurmountable problems, is it enough reason to end
your God-given life? Relate your reflection to the recent incidence of suicides
among youth.

Life.

Many are grateful to have it but then again there are people question
why they have it. The despair, depression, irritability, agitation, and sheer
hopelessness. Perhaps the things that poisoned the soul of some who takes
away their own life, who somehow forgot that there is God in life.

There were moments in my life wherein darkness kept on haunting me.

Financial problems specifically in my tuition fees, problems wherein I
considered myself as my own enemy. I was broke and not sure of myself,
again and again. Honestly, I was also thinking of ending my own life. But I
didn’t, because I know that ending my own life is a big step in the wrong
direction that I will forever regret. And that was before.

Now that I have Him, I am fulfilled. Optimistic to live life every day,
because valuing God means valuing myself and the people around me. For
the greatest gift God gave to me was Himself, the greatest gift I can give God
is myself. No matter how big problems are, I will never surrender for I have
Him. God is thinking about me continuously all day and night, He is
constantly giving to me and for others, because every breath I take is a gift
from God.

Therefore, God gives life, and only God can take it away.

Module 1-C PERSONHOOD: In Communion with Others

Activity 1 – Essay Writing

Develop an essay based from Ateneo de Manila’s motto: “Man
for Others” and SPU Surigao’s phrase in its vision, “Responsible Person in
the Church and Society.” How can you be such a person who is in
communion with others?
“A strong person stands up for him or herself. A stronger man stands up
for others.”

I grew up in a family where in church became our second home. My

father was a church President before and I also served as a servant-leader in
our church and community as well. Interacting with people and doing
activities for the betterment of the community became part of us.

On the other hand, one of the highlight of my service in our church was
being a young catechist. Every afternoon, specifically on the month of May,
we have this “Flores de Mayo” and our part is to teach young minds about
God’s creation and Mary’s deeds as our mother and model. At first, it wasn’t
that easy for I have also schedules and activities to do outside that is conflict
to our schedule in serving the church. But then again, what is always on mind
is that “God first before anything else.” This line became my strength in
pursuing my passion of serving God through interacting with children. It was
a great summer vacation after all.

Having our Bible Faith Sharing every end of the week, Monthly Youth
Mass in our Pastoral, Tree planting with the Youth, Summer Youth Camp
once a year, proclaiming words of God in front of many, and extending our
service in some remote areas in our municipality, I could say that I am truly a
person who is in communion with others.

Through this, I can make a marked difference in my own little
