HOW TECHNOLOGY AFFECTS STUDENT LEARNING

Education means considerably more than just teaching students to read, write, and
manipulate numbers. The students in school can’t imagine living without technology. You
probably can’t either. After all, internet and advanced electronic devices are becoming essential
in everyday life and have changed the way information is gathered.
Technology has played a vital role in education for generations. Today’s classrooms rely
on intelligent automated learning and telecommunication to engage students in hands-on
learning. It’s part of the preparation for living and working in a digital world. Technology in
education does more than to make easier connections between generations; it’s also a great way
to encourage active learning. It provides opportunities for students to consider real challenges
and come up with solutions.
Technology provides powerful tools for organizing and analyzing information and modeling
concepts and underlying structures. Students who have the opportunity to use these tools gain a
deeper understanding of complex topics and concepts and are more likely to be able to recall
information later in life and use it to solve problems in non-school situations.
Solving these problems often requires teamwork. With the help of technology, students reach out
to subject matter experts beyond the classroom and then collaborate with peers around the globe
to discuss ideas with others who may have different backgrounds, perception, experiences and
ideas. It’s also an opportunity to gain globally relevant knowledge, complete projects and
accomplish goals.
Technology affects the way teachers and students learn. To make best use of information
technology, schools need a workable plan to fully integrate it into all aspects of the curriculum so
students are taught how, why, and when to use technology to further enhance their learning.
Technology plays an important role in our life. Yet, it affects student learning negatively.
Technology allows easier access for communication with people that might lead to cheating. It
has an easier access to any sites that can be found online. In the present day, they say all things
you need are already given by technology. There is no need for you to go to the library and
search through the library aisles. Yet, there is misleading and outright false data found in the
internet. It can result in misleading learning of students. Students are exposed to technology that
puts their privacy at-risk every day. Even though most apps and software have strict privacy

measures in place, there is no way to completely eliminate the risks that are involved in this area.
It could also create medical issues for some students. Students are exposed almost 24 hours every
day that it can lead to eye strain. Prolonged periods of sitting, which could lead to hyperactivity,
obesity, and other issues. It can also interfere with sleep patterns as the child disengages with
their natural circadian rhythm.
Technology could open more doors and introduce new experiences. It will also create new
discoveries about the world. Those benefits must outweigh the risks involved and, for some, they
may not.
