Q1) ​I​n the context of the plots of both the plays which you have studied, 
critically examine the themes of treachery and betrayal as they recur 
throughout these two plays. How do these themes impact the psyches of the 
major characters involved in such acts? What is the connection between 
power, ambition, and treachery? 

S​econdly, what connections can you make between Tughlaq's policies in 
medieval India and some of the policies made in India for the past 6 years? 
 
Ans: 
FIRST PART 
“B​reaking a relationship with trust and deceiving someone is considered the simplest 
way of treason.”  
Treason will be thought of the idea of the complete story yet because the whole 
enjoying between the characters in Shakespeare’s full general. because of Cassius' 
anger, the complete play deals with ​Ju
​ lius ​Ca​ esar 's betrayal by statesman; there's 
a tragedy before and once Cassius 's death 
 
In other words, the two conspirators assume that sending the followers of Caesar 
would provide Caesar with a sort of practical test and break his ego. 
Cassius works to bring Brutus to his side, away from the faith of Caesar, to be the 
next example of betrayal. First of all, he sends him a fake letter and tells him why 
he is so disgusted that he feels betrayed by Caesar. 
 
He tells Brutus about a time before when they were swimming across the Tiber 
River and Caesar was almost drowning, calling out, "Help me, Cassius, or I will sink!" 
He says, "and that guy has become a king, and Cassius is an awful living being and 
will bend his body," and how He saved Caesar 's life, then says Brutus. This scene 
tells Cassius who, though he saved his life, bows down to Caesar as king. 
In this plot, most instances of deceit are relative, after the murder of Caesar. Mark 
Anthony 's friend acts like he betrays Caesar to be avenged later. When he appears 
on the scene for the first time he shakes hands with all the conspirators who 
murdered Caesar, despite being bleeding in their faces. 
 
In ​Ju
​ lius ​C​aesar, there are other cases of treason because treason is a concept 
based upon which the whole story interweaving almost everyone in it. The theme of 
the story ranges from the main story of Caesar 's betrayal to the minor betrays 
between characters that caused Caesar 's death. 
Julius Caesar's rhetorical skills in Rome give public officers status and power. We 
obviously see that in the opening scene, in which the former ruler of Rome, 
Pompei, is mourning the commoners to celebrate the victory of Caesar over his 
sons. He bombards them with an accusatory question, struck by their wicked 
behaviors: 
“ O you hard hearts, you cruel men of Rome, 
Knew you not Pompey? 
… 
And do you now put on your best attire? 
And do you now cull out a holiday? 
And do you now strew flowers in his way 
Does that come in triumph over Pompey’s blood? “ 
 
Cassius is the primary mover in Caesar 's life and depends on his rhetoric to recruit 
conspirators. He begins by persuading senator Brutus to do little about Caesar 's 
power aspirations, thinking the attempts will also be appreciated by Brutus (seen 
by many as the central character in the play). Brutus quickly suspects that Cassius 
plans to do something contrary to his tenets: 

“ Into what dangers would you lead me, Cassius, 

That you would have me seek into myself 
For that which is not in me? “ 

But Cassius uses various convincing tricks to persuade Brutus to join the 
conspiracy. For example, a metaphor of himself is developed smartly as a mirror 
where Brutus sees himself reflected. He presents a vivid depiction of how he once 
rescued Caesar when they were swimming in the River Tiber, and emphasizes 
Caesar as the weaker man by comparison with an event from Roman history 
 
 
The study was contradictory to ​Mu
​ hammad ​B​in T
​ ​ughlaq​. He was lovely 
since he was both a scholar and an astonishing visionary, and he was obviously 
good – intentioned, which is why his rule is so unmitigated as a train wreck boggles 
his mind. 
 
He turned out to be a wrecking ball for someone able to show such kindness and 
generosity that he was responsible for such extraordinary losses and destruction. 
I found it emotional that during a long period of ruinous famine he seemed truly 
concerned for the welfare of his subjects and went to help. 
 
Few power-bearing individuals have performed twice as successful in natural 
disasters before or since, but not all have been criticized as spectacularly, whether 
the ill one is – they have proposed revolutions from Delhi to Daulatabad or their 
token currency scheme. 
 
However, his religious tolerance and even the Hindus who refused to convert to a 
high position in his court also deserve to be praised, leading to him being outlawed 
by the Muslim clergy. For what they perceived as a breach of their religion, they 
called him out and caused him untold trouble. This led to Tughlaq's savage 
reprisals, where extremists did everything to undermine his reign and even fatwa it. 
Of course, not all this exonerates him of the stomach-churning wildness typical of 
his law but, in a violent age where you killed, if you didn't kill first, I do think he did 
the best he could under tough circumstances. 
 
More importantly, his stepmother, to whom he was close, is betrayed in Scene 10. 
When she confesses that she has his close counselor Najib assassinated, he 
sentences her to death by stoning in public. 
 
The Sultan gave commands and made prayers obligatory, but he killed his father 
and brother during his prayers. "It's been history that Muhammad Tughlaq 
murdered his father and brother to become the Delhi Sultan. The murder charge 
may or may not apply, because history is largely based on guesses. 
The playwright just casts on Tughlaq a cloud of doubt. While it is a preplanned 
killing, the question arises how, when the prayer was offered, the elephant was 
smoked and struck at the wooden pandal that led to the collapse of the Sultan and 
the immediate death? In this statement, there is room for skepticism. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
SECOND PART 
 
Connections that we all can make in the current government where we see many 
experiments seems to be failing from digital India to so-called “Kisan Yojana”. 
Interestingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was noticeably reluctant to talk about 
the achievements of his government during the electoral campaigns for the five 
State assemblies.  
 
It's also ironic because we know the prime minister loves advertising. So much so, 
that a parliamentary inquiry revealed that the government spent nearly Rs 4,880 
crore of taxpayer money advertising their 'realizations.' 
 
As we enter the last five months of this government, a historic opportunity is 
becoming ever more obvious. The Modi administration – blessed twice with a 
historic popular mandate and three years of low oil prices – had a chance to 
implement broad-based reforms. Instead, it was a government whose objectives 
were unclear and lacking policy consistency. 
 
The Modi government's successes are controversial. But 10 critical mistakes were 
taken which will define the government of Modi, without a doubt.  
 
1. Demonetisation. Disintegration.  
 
Their success and the widespread devastation it has inflicted on the economy 
would be at the top of any list. Although being taught in business schools in foreign 
countries today as a cautionary tale, it has the distinction of having collapsed on 
both of its specified objectives (campaigning against violence, counterfeit notes and 
black money) although losing jobs. Studies conducted by well-known economist 
Arun Kumar and the Center for Indian Economic Monitoring show that we are still 
not out of the woods. 
 
 
2. The Treachery of Farmers 
 
During the Modi government tenure, farmers' suicides rose sharply. In the final 
budget, BJP gave a version that nobody satisfied with the demand of a minimum 
aid price plus 50 percent. At the same time, the Modi administration has 
thoughtlessly imported wheat and pulses-causing domestic product prices to crash. 
Further – the improper venture to amend the Act of 2013 concerning land 
acquisition; the forcible purchase of farms' land. 
Farmers have succumbed to all kinds of public unrest to catch the attention of the 
BJP government. Three times this year, they marched and held large-scale 
agitations. They brought the mortal remains of their brothers who committed 
suicide to shock this government into action. The children of the farmers who took 
their own lives held peaceful protests barely a mile away from the parliament. Not 
a single BJP government official deigned to visit either of them or even acknowledge 
their presence. 
 
3. Rewriting the Rafale deal questionable  
 
Without following the stipulated procurement procedure, the Prime Minister and 
his cohorts changed the terms of a deal to acquire fewer jets for three times the 
price. When cornered with questions, the government chose to attack the 
opposition and quote privacy rules that were contradicted in an interview to an 
Indian channel by the French president. The Rafale dispute is also raising concerns 
due to the appointment of a private party as an offset collaborator – one that lacks 
any credentials in this respect, save for an apparent closeness to the Prime 
Minister.  
 
4. Capturing media 
 
Some sections of the media have been enslaved, simply choking at any criticism no 
matter how innocuous the prime minister and the president of the BJP are. If a 
channel is less than pliant, it will be blacked out for 24 hours, its premises will be 
raided, or the offending journalists will be mysteriously challenged to go on 
sabbatical or removed. 
 
5. Institutional weakening 
 
This government, which prefers to rule by fiat and by ordinances, is inconvenient to 
parliament.The prime minister seldom attends parliament, and when he does, it's 
more about giving election speeches than setting out a legislative agenda or 
answering questions raised on the House floor. The promised Lokpal is so artfully 
forgotten that direct action must be taken by an irate Supreme Court. An audacious 
chief minister withdraws all criminal cases against himself promptly upon assuming 
office and no-one blinks. Electoral accountability is provided by regressive and 
secret electoral bonds, thus taking in uncounted support. The CBI's in the throes of 
a credibility battle. The list continues. 
 
6. Maybe the most serious mistake, the production 
of hatred 
 
Targeted attacks on Dalits and members of the minority community have been 
steeply increasing. What makes these attacks unique is state endorsement of the 
attackers when they are garlanded or reverentially attended by ministers to their 
funerals. No-one is losing the message of encouragement. Indeed, the only clear 
thread running through the term of this government was the going-out-of a certain 
part of India. People who are blessed to be followed by the Prime Minister share in 
common only one other thing. They are defiantly abusive and communal. Their 
official sanction is almost as if they had.  
 
7. The Kashmir Misconduct 
 
This administration deserves praise for distancing the Kashmiris from the rest of 
India through an unsupervised engagement strategy. For the first time since 1996, 
the Anantnag district was unable to hold by-elections and due to the tense situation 
had to be retarded. The local economy was devastated by eight-month-long 
curfews. Worse still, the number of our soldier’s martyrdom in the first three years 
of the term of the BJP increased considerably (72 %). It is worth studying the highly 
inept handling of Kashmir. 
 
8. A ruthless Aadhaar and the failure to refute 
citizens' basic privacy rights 
 
This government has been arguing in the Supreme Court for months against the 
fundamental right of citizens to privacy. It argued that control and privacy were an 
"elitist issue." At the same time, it failed to understand why it required Aadhaar to 
be connected to all available facilities from train tickets to school entrances. 
Ultimately, the Supreme Court has had to severely limit the project's prevailing 
designs. 
 
9. India's Asian influence erosion 
 
Nepal has nothing to offer about engaging with China, as does Sri Lanka. A small 
island nation like the Maldives is confident that India will spurn. 
India was the dominant force in the Subcontinent, finding answers in these nations, 
up to five years ago. The power was evidently diminished because of the lack of a 
consistent foreign policy, with the exception of encouraging the development of the 
Prime Minister 's personality. 
 
 
10.Employment 
 
If the government needs to amend the GDP estimation formula to falsely raise the 
figures as capital flights arise at an unimaginable extent, if businesses are using 
foreign borrowers at the fund industry, the government has not generated jobs.
