Portfolio 5 Survey Data and Reflection

In this survey, I was able to survey my 8th-grade students and add a few others into the

mix of the responses. I realized some ideas once I got results because google forms make things

wonky where I had the students put their grades and the way recognized everything so different.

This survey could be an ice breaker of how we could meet students every year and help us know

each other.

One thing that I wanted to learn

about what items our students like to do.

This is my responses from assignments

that my students like to do. I thought this

was cool to see how so many of the

students wanted to do worksheets. I remember that worksheets were fun when I was in class

because that sometimes meant that I would get to work with all my classmates, during COVID

probably wouldn’t be able to do that now. One of the lowest that I thought was interesting is that

graphic organizers were something they liked, but they were so low. I’m wondering if maybe

they did not know what they were or why is this. I know that being in this program, we have

talked about graphic organizers being used so

much, but I think they work for the kids who

don’t like them.

Types of assignments that the students

did not like just how we talked about in the

assignments that students did like. The number

one that they did not like was the Graphic

organizer. The assignments that they don’t like I feel like some of the students might not like

doing because students don’t want to do the work. I think this is good if you do at the beginning

of the year to see what your students want to do but then actually make these assignments for

them.

The most important thing that I need to look at is that I need to make sure that I represent all

these for my students like the teacher. Another thing is that all students might not like to do

something because of the past teachers doing something. So, make sure that maybe they didn’t

like it in the past but figure out how students will enjoy it for you. I believe that students

sometimes need to be reinforced that it's always different for every teacher.
