Topic: INTEGRATING ICT WITHIN THE CURRICULUM

Time: 40 minutes

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the participants are expected to:
1. enhance skills on constructing ICT-enhanced lesson exemplars in ENSCIMA
2. integrate ICT within the curriculum
3. appreciate the importance of integrating ICT in the teaching-learning process.

LEARNING EPISODES

PRIMING (5 minutes)

Introduction:
In full implementation of the ICT for Education (ICT4E), the school
stakeholders have to be aware that this vision is directed towards the
students. This vision is to lead our students to be proficient, adaptable life-
long learners where ICT plays a major role in creating a new and improved
model of teaching and learning where education happens anytime,
anywhere. In doing so, dynamic and innovative techniques must be employed
to link up our students with the vast networked world of knowledge and
information.

I. ACTIVITY (5 minutes)

Short video presentation.


II. ANALYSIS (5 minutes)

1. Why do we need to integrate ICTs into the curriculum?


2. Where/To which part of the lesson can ICT be integrated?
3. What problems are met in integrating ICTs within the curriculum?

III. ABSTRACTION (5 minutes)

1. Why should schools and teachers work towards increasing the use of ICT
in education?
2. What are the benefits of integrating ICT within the curriculum?

b. For the pupils
3. How can the use of ICTs help improve the quality of education?

IV. APPLICATION (20 minutes)

Integrating ICT-based Instructional Activities and Content

1. Review an existing lesson plan that does not have ICT-based instructional
activities and content.
2. Search and evaluate re-usable learning activities and learning objects
from the Internet that can be incorporated into the existing lesson, and
align to the specific objectives of the lesson.
3. Revise the instructional plan to incorporate ICT based learning activities
and learning content.
4. Validate the ICT enhanced lesson plan whether the selected ICT-based
learning activities and learning objects achieve the stated learning
outcomes.
5. Revise ICT enhanced lesson plan for improvement.
