APPROACHING THE APOCALYPSE 2
Protests have evolved much from the fact that things have changed compared to the
1970s. In the contemporary days, individuals (the administration and the public citizens) can
air their ideas through social media or organize a peaceful protest unless there is a need to
push the government hard to accept a given purpose for change. The notion of breaking
things up is way forgotten and is not quite often involved in the protests.
Significance of Watergate
The political scandal or Watergate Scandal involved President Richard Nixon with a
series of crimes committed by the staff and the president that led to his resignation after the
impeachment process. They harassed and spied their political opponents covering up their
scandals and accepting illegal campaign contributions. The decision that was made on 24th
July 1974 is deemed an essential precedent that limited the Power of any United States’
President from claiming executive privilege. People were also given the right to know or see
the documents about them that the government has (Becker, 2012).
