Actuator
The Impact Cylinder:
Some applications of cylinders e.g metal forming, punching, stamping require short
duration and large forces to be applied to some target.
Actuator
Cylinder Mounting:
Depends upon:
 The type of operation
to be carried out
 Nature of the Load
Actuator
Cylinder Mounting:
Buckling:
Actuator
Rodless Cylinders:
Cylinders without piston.

The main types of rodless cylinders are:

Magnetic Cylinders:
Magnetic Coupling is used to transmit the
force from the piston to the external
guided carriage.

Band Cylinders:
These use cable or band to connect
either side of the piston to external guided
carriage.
Actuator
Semi Rotary Actuator:
Where rotary movement through some angle
less than 360 ͦ is required.
It is possible to use linear actuators.

Types of semi-rotary actuators:

Piston Type:

Vane Type:
Actuator
Air Motors:
Air motors can give a continuous rotation.
Advantages:
 Simple speed Control
 Capable of high speeds
 High power to weight ratio
 Minimal Maintenance etc

 Commonly used air motors are vane motors, gear motors, piston motors and
turbine motors.
