Blended Learning Lesson Plan

Lesson Title:

Key to understanding how to divide

Objectives:

Any point on the coordinate plane can be represented by its coordinates;

The first number in an ordered pair is the x-coordinate and represents the

horizontal distance from the origin;

The second number in an ordered pair is the y-coordinate and represents the

vertical distance from the origin.

State Standards:

5.G.2 Plot and interpret points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane to represent
real-world and mathematical situations.

Context: I am teaching this lesson because it is needed when trying to move on to the next math
class. Algebraic Thinking and operations comes before this unit and is needed to know how to do
before learning this. Students will bring in how to add, subtract, divide, and multiple.
Measurement and Data Analysis comes after this unit. Learning how to measure the shapes in
this unit is going to get the student prepared for the future unit.

Data: Students will be group by numbers that they choose. The data will be based on how well
my students understood this lesson and if I need to reteach the lesson. The data will be collected
based on a test and how well they do and will be determined how to teach in the future based on
the data.

Materials: textbooks, notebooks, pencils, pen, paper,

Detailed paragraphs from here on down.

Procedures:

Introduction ( 5 minutes):

The students will come in the classroom and will pick numbers in a hat. The numbers they get
will be the group that they are in during class time. I will give them instruction on what they are

going to be doing in a group and what they are going to be doing me and by themselves. After
they will all go get their books and needed materials to start their assignments.

Teacher Directed (10 minutes):

Students will come to my table and will take notes. The notes will be based on the lesson
and activity they are learning in class. I will give them practice problems along with notes. They
have the time ask question if they need more help. Students have the ability to ask me any
question that they need help with.

Collaborative (20 minutes):

They will at the bored working on 15 different math problems. They will have a buzzer
that will call me to come help or check their work. They will be able to work together and find a
way to get the answer without my help. The student will get extra points on the unit test when
they solve a problem by their own problem without my help.

Independent Digital (10minutes):

This is there time to take the rest of the notes that they did not finish with me. They can go
over anything that are having a hard time learning. They can or on IXL and doing math
problems on there. They look at examples that can help them with work or even show them how
to do the problem.

Closure (6minutes):

Students will take a test over the material they have learned. It will be a 5 questions test
that will require little to no work. They can use a calculator on the test. If they passed the test
they will be able to leave and go to their next class and if they have not passed they have to come
back tomorrow and take the test again with me so I can see where they have messed up.

Rationale:

(IXL: Math, English, Science):It used in different subjects for different classes. This
supports my students because if they need help while I am helping another students. It is
high-quilty because they are recommended by other teachers to help students to learn.
