Matt Miller Reflection

On November 11th Matt Miller came to talk to our ED199 class. Matt MIller has

been a long awaited speaker to come to ED 199. We have been looking at work since

september so this was a good ending to our class. Matt Miller unlike any of our former

speakers was not and Education Major, he was actually a Journalism Major in College.

When he graduated he got his first job and hated it. His was a teacher and saw

everything she did as teacher and thought he could that too. After thinking and praying

what is best for him he went back to school to become a teacher. He gave great advice

and insight on becoming a teacher. Matt is a great example of the CoE core value, The

excitement of Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring. He gave such good life lessons that

its okay to not be sure on what you are doing or what you want to do in the future.

Coming into the speaking, I thought I knew everything Matt Miller was going to talk

about. But he suprised me and gave our class some great advice and pointers for the

future years to come.

My goal in the future is to become a High School Math Teacher, I love the MAth

content area and I hope I stick with it even when times get rough. Matt taught me that

even if things don’t work out with the plans I have right now, it’s okay because he went

through the same thing and he turned out alright.
