To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to strongly recommend Monte Brown for any position
he is seeking.

I worked with lvlonte during the 2009-2010 school year at Carpenter

Elementary School in Ann Arbor during our partnership with the University of
Michigan and the World Languages Program.

Monte is a professional and dedicated teacher. His classroom work with our
third graders was excellent, and he exceeded expectations when he had to teach
on his own for a semester because his teaching partner had to unexpectedly
leave the program. He was enthusiastic and respectful of both the students and
the staff. He knew the curriculum, the materials, and made a great effort to get
to know the students and meet all of their individual needs.

I was greatly impressed with Monte's lesson plans and preparation. There was
never a day that he was not completely prepared for his classes, yet he was also
very flexible when he needed to change something or had to deal with
unexpected circumstances. His lessons were engaging, and his enthusiasm for
the subject really encouraged tl1e students to embrace the lessons themselves
and learn the material.

Monte was very collaborative and easy to support in our mentor/mentee

relationship. He was completely receptive to any suggestions I gave him and
would reflect on these and implement change, as needed. Our mentoring
discussions were frank and reflective, and he took everything to heart in a
professional manner, making the necessary changes to grow as a teacher
throughout the school year.

lvlonte returned to Carpenter this year and all of the teachers he is working with
are so excited that he is back. He is, and will be, an asset to any educational
setting that would hire him.
