LANNA BLOCK D- THE TEACHER AND THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Reflection on Video (The Story of a Teacher)

In a matter of time, all of us would become a teacher. Not now but

soon after we graduate and practice our profession. After I watched and
read the story of Mrs. Thompson and his student Teddy Stoddard, I
overwhelmed that in just a random act of kindness we can change their
life and become an inspiration to them. It gave me the realization that
teachers should get to know their students well and treat them like
family to help them feel comfortable at school. At first, Mrs. Thompson
has fault because she judged the appearance of Teddy and marked fail in
his card that a teacher should not do that because we didn’t know what
he/she might have struggle in life. Then later on, she realized that she’s
wrong after she read all the notes of Teddy’s teacher from previous
grade. And that made her to focus in Teddy’s learning and help him
complete his potential. This story simply tells how beautiful is the
journey of life is. This makes me so happy that a teacher made a
difference in a student’s life. Mrs. Thompson pushed Teddy into being a
successful person in life. She made him know his worth and she was
there to help him through everything. My thoughts are that this was a
touching story and Mrs. Thompson did the right thing for Teddy and
Teddy did the same back. My reaction is that one person can make a
huge difference. Mrs. Thompson like others saw the challenges but tried
to fix and change them. It’s an inspiring story. As a future teacher, we
should provide an environment which allows all learners to have an
equal voice. We can give them a motivation to pursue their dreams and
become a successful. The moral lesson of this story is that teachers must
always treat everyone in the class fairly and that they should exert more
effort on the low performing ones because it leads to success. Teachers
must never give up on their students.
