General Product Description

The ASTM A588 specification is the Standard Specification for High-Strength Low-Alloy Structural Steel , up to 50 ksi Minimum Yield Point, with
Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance for applications where strength and durability are needed. The required ASTM G101 Corrosion Resistance
Index must be ≥ 6.0. In addition to the typical application in welded bridges and buildings, the specification is also commonly used in passenger
rail cars.

Mechanical Properties
Tensile testing is performed in the transverse direction according to ASTM A6 requirements. The tensile property requirements are tablulated
below:
