Principal’s Vision

Our Vision: How I Noticed:

 To create an environment of  High Expectations Environment
academic excellence where your  Standards-based learning
child is treated like family and  Inquiry driven learning
encouraged to pursue their
ambitions in order to excel in our  Staff treats students and faculty like
family
evolving community.
 Rigor and Choice
 Industry Certifications (next year)
 Students have voice and choice in
academics and electives
Diversity at Renaissance Charter
School at St. Lucie

 There is a translator or someone who is fluent in a

language so no student is ignored or not served
properly. We also have an app that translates
important information.
 Students have representation in faculty members.
 Students are treated as family and shown respect.
Effective Communication Skills Used
by Mrs. Jackson

 Talked directly to students and staff and she was not

“above” them.
 Listened to all sides of the story involving discipline.
 Following-up with issues that need follow-up and a
conclusion.
Ways Mrs. Jackson Used Time
Management and Prioritization

 Use of email calendar on phone and adherence to it.

 Prioritized assignments and important meetings first (ex.
Scheduled meetings had priority over impromptu
meetings with a co-teacher).
 Use of school master schedule.
A Reflection of My Experience

 My shadowing experience was a fun “adventure”. I greatly enjoyed my time

with Mrs. Jackson and she is definitely a role model for our school. There were
times where I felt awkward following her almost everywhere, but Mrs. Jackson
made me feel welcomed, just like she does with every student and staff
member. I was thankful for a busy day because it made the experience
interesting and worthwhile. I was very impressed with Mrs. Jackson’s dedication
to our staff in supporting them with lesson planning and providing modeling
activities.
 Overall, the experience gave me excitement and made me reflect on the fact
that I can be a school leader. It reassured me that I made the right decision to
pursue my degree in educational leadership.
My Misconceptions About the
Principalship

 Principals just sit in their office all day.

 This was my experience with several of my previous principals. I
was all over the building and providing support throughout the
day. Mrs. Jackson did things for teachers I never thought would
be done.
 Assistant Principals only focus on discipline.
 Mrs. Jackson was very involved in helping grade levels with
planning. Mrs. Jackson researched center ideas to help a
grade level who was struggling with math centers and even
provided a sample center rotation activity for the grade level in
order to help them plan.
