1.1.Introduce yourself and describe your appearance and

personality
My name is Yanina, but my friends call me Yana. I’m 18 years old. Actually, I am
a sophomore at the MSLU, interpreter faculty. I was born near Homel, my home
town isn’t large, it’s located near the border to Ukraine. My family is quite small,
there are actually three members there: me, my mother and my dog.
What about my appearance, so I’ m average height, about 173 cm and quite slim,
my skin is very pale, so I try not to be under sunlight for a long time(to avoid
sunlight) My hair is straight and fair too, I used to dye it before, but I have
recently realized, it isn’t a good idea, so I don’t do it anymore. My eyes are brown,
so that I have a lot in common with my mom. My face is oval and I have dimple on
my chin, my nose is small and my lips full. My teeth are straight from two years of
braces. When I wear makeup, I keep it natural-looking and don't wear heavy, bold
eyeshadow. However, I like bright red lipstick and I put it on often enough.

Let’s talk about my character. I am a complete extravert. I love people and the
world around me. I understand them and make friends quite easily. That’s why I
like meeting new people and talking to them. I always try to be an open-minded
and adaptable (адэптбл) because our world is constantly changing. My friends
often call me the life and soul of the party, with a good sense of humor, although I
may sometimes be kind of shy. Anyone can be down or depressed when something
sad happens. But if somebody hurts my feelings or makes me angry I just tend to
ignore him or her and approach the things from the positive side.

I would also describe my personality as generous. I take pleasure in sharing

something with other people and I am ready to help them at any time. I am
organized and punctual(панктъюэл) too and I am happy when things happen on
time, according to the schedule. I am very hard-working and I am always busy. I
don’t like to give up.

In conclusion I would like to say that the people have ever been very different and
it’s very important to accept (эксэпт) yourself as you are.

1.2. Introduce yourself and speak about your hobbies and interests,
likes, dislikes
My name is Yanina, but my friends call me Yana. I’m 18 years old. I was born
near Homel, my home town isn’t large, it’s located near the border to Ukraine.
Actually, I am living in a student dormitory. Actually, I am a sophomore at the
MSLU, interpreter faculty. Because of this, I literally devote my life to study. But
like everyone else, I have a couple of hobbies, which have ever helped me to relax
my mind as well as my soul. They occupy my mind when I am free and also make
me happy. Hobbies are my escape from the real world that makes me forget all my
worries.
My main hobby and my passion is programming. The majority of my friends and
relatives were both surprised and impressed, when they found out about it. But I
really like programming. Ever since I bought my first computer, I’ve been
fascinated(фасынэйтид) by it. Programming is about creating solutions to
problems. At the end of the day, you have created something that didn’t exist that
morning, and that is a wonderful feeling.

What regards my another hobbies, so reading books is one of my favourite pass

times. Whenever I am free, I pick up a book which I love and start reading it.
When the reading begins, I am so much involved in the book that I forget about
every other worry of the world. I love my hobby because it makes my mind quick.
I learn things more swiftly. Another advantage of reading is, that it made me a
better speaker. Every time I am depressed, I amuse myself with my hobby and my
depression converts into happiness. Books are my real friends and I love them. I
am proud that, book reading is my hobby.

I’m also interested in traveling, but I don’t spend much time on it. Traveling is too
expensive. I also really enjoy listening to music, I barely can imagine my life
without it.

So, in conclusion I would like to say, that we are all unique, and having different
hobbies and likes is absolutely normal. The most important thing is to be happy
and we should constantly remind ourselves of this.

1.3. Describe a person whom you find good-looking

Since my birth, I have met many good-looking people in my life, but out of those
here, I would like to talk about my grandmother.
She is in her late fifties but young at heart.
She is not much tall but looks pretty good.
She would like to be younger. She has dyed hazel hair and brown eyes. She also
always put on bright red lipstick. What about her figure, so it’s quite fit. I am
impressed of it.
Whenever she gets dressed up for social occasions like wedding function or her
friend’s birthday, she looks like a royal queen. Her clothes have ever been stylish
and fashionable. Its’ because she is following trends and trying to look better.
And I am sure in her young age she must have resembled a princess.
Apart from that, she is an excellent chef, every Sunday she used to cook new
dishes.
She is elegant by her outer look but also has inner beauty, like kindness, adoration
and many more.
She loves to learn new things and update herself with the time.
She always gives respect to everyone and believes in helping others.
She is a working professional but never missed to take care of the family.
She always helps me to solve my problems in routine life as well as education
difficulty.
Therefore, I think to me, my grandmother is one of the most beautiful people in the
world and I hope to be like her in my fifties.

1.4.Speak on positive and negative features of character people can

have
Sometimes you may think that you know a person's character well just because you
have been friends for ages, but one particular situation can show how wrong you
were. In lots of cases people just don't know who they really are and what they are
capable of. Anyway, each of us has both negative and positive character traits and
wants to be a better person. In life, there is a constant battle between these two
traits.
I for one like when a person is responsible, sincere(синсэа-искрений), reliable,
confidence, honest, easy-going, talkative and cheerful.
People like this are dear to my heart. Sincere people show their feelings honestly
and I can rely on such people, because I know what they means about me. Easy-
going and cheerful people make me happier and smile. And I think it’s very
important not only for me but also for everyone, because everyone needs a man,
who makes him happier. I also like supportive people. No matter how busy they
are, they will always be there if they are needed.
And there are such features of character like nervous, rude, shy, cruel. They are
negative of course. Stubborn (стабэн - упрямый) or rude people make us angry.
The majority of us don’t like communication with stupid or envois people. It can
be annoying, to listen to their speech. Luckily, everyone can change his negative
features if he wants.
All in all I want to say, that we all have different positive and negative features of
character, that is why we all are unique. It is true when they say, "Don't judge a
book by its cover."

2.1 Speak on your family tree

Family is the most important part of our life. I think it’s very important for
everybody to have people, who love and understand you, to have people you can
relay on. For me these people are my whole family.
My family has 3 members: my mother, my father and me. We live in
Retschiza. I’m an only child in the family.
The heart of our family is my mother. My mother’s name is Alessja. My
mum is attractive and I think she has aged quite well. She is not tall with a good
figure. She has got a charming smile and blue-gray eyes. I like her shoulder-
length straight fair hair. Her natural hair colour is dark and she dyes it. In general
she uses very little cosmetics but she always looks well because she pays much
attention to her appearance. Her favorite clothes at home are comfortable dresses
or T-shirts and trousers. When she was young, she had got a red lipstick on. She is
clever, honest and friendly, always ready to help.
My father’s name is Igor. He is very tall. He is 5 years older than my
mother. He has got blue eyes and dark eyebrows. He is bald. He usually wears
trousers, jeans and T-shirts. He wears rare white shirts and ties. He spends a lot of
time in the garage.
I love spending time with my family.
I also have a lot of relatives: aunts, uncles and cousins. We get together from
time to time, for example on our birthdays or other holidays. It’s also our family
tradition to celebrate my mother’s birthday together.
2.2 Speak on the advantages and disadvantages of having a
big/small family
Generally, a family is a group, which is made up of two parents and their
kids living jointly as a unit. What is a small family? A small family is a group of
people, which is made of parents and one or two kids. There are both advantages
and disadvantages to every family size.
Advantages
1. Better life quality for children
One of the biggest advantages of having a small family is that each child
receives more attention from his parents. Kids of smaller families get more
attention to higher quality from their parents.
2. Better life quality for parents/ Less stress for mothers
Mothers with one or two children experience less stress when compared to
those having two or more children. This allows mothers to pay more attention to
the welfare of their children.
3. Less pressure(прэшэ) on family bu(а)dgets
Also, the financial (файнаншэл) costs of having a small family are less.

Disadvantages of a small family

Everything in the world has its own pros and cons, and a small family is no
exception. Although a small family offers benefits to the children, parents, and to
the society (сэсайти), it has its own disadvantages. Some of the disadvantages of
having a small family include:
1. It makes the child selfish
The most disadvantage of a small family can be realized when the child is
starting to get selfish. The only child in a small family cannot learn the way to
share.
2. It prevents the kid from learning the responsibility.
A disadvantage of having a smaller family is that there is no chance for the
child to learn responsibility earlier in his/her life. This is for the reason that they do
not have younger sisters or brothers to take care of.
3. The child may feel loneliness.
A small family with a single kid may offer the child a feeling of loneliness.
An advantage of having a bigger family is that children have someone to play with
at home.
On the other hand in a small family, if the only kid becomes sick, there will
not be any family member to look after him or her when his/her parents are
working.

2.3.A friend who is close to you

My best friend’s name is Olga. I made friends with her a few years ago in a fitness
club. We are of the same age and we have a great deal in common.
Olga is a very beautiful girl. She is rather tall and slim. Her hair is fair and straight.
Her eyes are green and quite big, with long and curly lashes. My friend is always
very neat and well-dressed.
The best traits which appeal to me in my friend are her good manners, her great
sense of humor and her reliability. I can always rely on Olga and trust her, she is
honest and just. She keeps her promises and has never let me down. And I really
respect her for these qualities. Besides she is cheerful and sociable, full of life and
optimism. So, no wonder it attracts other people to her and makes her popular. My
friend is a talented and creative person, she cooks well, writes amazing poems and
she has a great passion for painting. She is going to become a professional artist,
by the way.
Fortunately, we live in the same town, so we can see each other quite often and
spend much time together. In our spare time we go to the cinema and cafes, visit
art galleries, listen to music, walk around our beautiful city and go shopping.
Sometimes we enjoy our time together in the swimming-pool or in the gym. We
share our secrets and thoughts, discuss our problems and try to find the
solutions. I am very happy to have such a true and special friend and I know that a
true friend is a priceless gift. Our friendship makes me feel strong, warm and
comfortable.

3.1.Describe your typical weekdays

What is the best morning routine for me? To wake up late, a cup of coffee or tea,
some sweat and music. wears
I am not an early bird, but I am a student and I usually wake up at seven
o’clock and that’s quite early for me. I stay in my bed for 10 minutes and then I get
up. I turn the music on, if my neighbors don’t sleep, make my bed and go to the
fridge. For breakfast I usually have a cup of coffee, a glass of water or just nothing.
Coffee helps me to wake up. And also, I can eat some sweets because it makes me
happier.
After breakfast I go to the bathroom to clean my teeth, wash my face and
brush my hair. Then I get dressed and then I put on make-up before I leave my
dormitory.
The way to university is not very long. It takes me about 20-25 minutes. I go
to the university on foot. My classes usually begin at a quarter past 8 and finish at
half past 12.
When classes are over, I go to dormitory and make lunch, ‘cause I’m very
hungry after university. After eating I usually find some time for sleeping. This is
the best thing, what I can do for a rest. After sleeping I start to do my homework. It
takes me 2 or 3 hours, but sometimes I sit with my homework till late at night. I go
to bed at about 1-2 a.m. every night.
So, that was a description of my typical day. Of course, all days are different
and I try enjoy every day.

3.2 My typical weekend

Most people in our country work and study five or six days a week.
Saturdays and Sundays are usually days off. I’m not an exception. My weekdays
are usually monotonous and hard, so I always long for Saturdays and Sundays.
Unfortunately, my weekend is too short, that is why I do my best to make it really
exciting.
I have classes on Saturday, but Sunday is a full day off. On Saturday night I
usually can sleep or watch a movie with friends because I’m exhausted from a
week of classes, exams, and all-nighters.
Most students spend Saturday cleaning up, getting back on track, figuring
out what needs to be done and so forth.
On Sunday I can sleep as much as I want. When I wake up, I have lunch, I
do my homework and I study for my exams until night. When I finish my
homework, I go to sleep. In the evening I like to take long walk with my friends.
We enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery around us. While walking we
usually discuss the books we have read, the films we have watched recently and
ask each other a lot of questions about our life, work and studies. And on Sunday I
can visit the cinema or the pizza place, walk around the nearby mall. There is
nothing more enjoyable than to spend time with friends. Before I go to bed, I like
to read all my emails, reply to all messages.
My leisure time somehow depends on my mood. Sometimes I spend my
time active, so I go to the gym or do some yoga. Another time I stay at home and
laze about.
I like weekends very much, because I can rest and gain some energy for the
next week.

3.3.Describe winter and spring

There are four different seasons in the year and they all are unique. They please
and surprise us with beauty and natural phenomena. All children and adults have
their favorite season. Someone likes spring, someone likes summer, someone waits
for autumn and winter. Every time of the year, just like a person has his own
mood. There are people who love all seasons.
Spring
Spring is time of year that everyone is waiting for after a long, snowy and cold
winter. Spring consists of three months: cold March, playful April, tender May.
This time of year is always welcome. The first signs of the arrival of spring can be
seen in February already: the sun appears more often, icicles melt. Of course, frosts
can still come on, more than once, but it's clear to everyone that the spring is on the
threshold.
And then she stepped on. The sky becomes brighter, blue and pure. The snow
melts, and the streams rumble.
The spring season is the beginning of a new life for nature. The buds are
blossoming, and the first gently-green leaves appear. The first grass is visible. The
days become longer, and the sun begins to warm the earth more and more every
day. A pleasant, fresh aroma of flowering trees appears in the air.
Another sign of the approaching heat is the first thunderstorm in May. The air
before the thunderstorm does not smell as usual, in a special way. It is filled with
freshness. Powerful peals of thunder are heard, bright lightning flashes in a sky.
The May Thunderstorm is one of the beautiful and amazing phenomena of nature
that surprises with the strength and power of the element.
At this time of the year, not only nature awakes, but human feelings are also
renewed. Many people feel a rush of energy, excellent mood .Spring gives us a lot
of wonderful holidays. Among them, a holiday dedicated to all women - the day of
March 8, and Easter - the day of victory over death. The Day of
Resurrection(рэзэрэкшэн) of Christ.
Thanks to this time of the year, which gives us a joyful mood, and an opportunity
to feel happy.
Winter
Winter is a beautiful and magical time of the year. This cold season consists of
three months: merry December, snowy January and frosty February. The winter
season brings us large snowflakes, snowstorms, icicles hanging from the roofs of
houses, amazing patterns on the windows. The real winter days do not hurry to
come, they appear with the first frosts, snowflakes in the morning. Fallen snow
during the night, every morning glitters and shimmers in the rays of the cold sun,
and blinds the eyes of people who are rushing to work. Snow lies everywhere: on
the roofs of buildings, on benches, on roads. Trees proudly stand dressed in snow-
white outfits. There is the frosty breath of the coming winter in the air. Nature
sleeps hiding under a snow.
But the sky begins to frown and is covered with dark clouds. The first snowflakes
appear. Some of them randomly fly in the air and melt before they fall to the
ground. Others slowly cover everything around, speeding up their pace. Watching
this fabulous snowfall, you can feel both indescribable joy and mild sadness.
Winter is a time of joy and fun. You can play with your friends in snowballs, build
snow castles, sculpt snowmen, ride skis and skates. Many birds flew away to hot
countries, and for those who stayed, it possible to make feeders and feed them all
winter with bread and corn. In winter, all people are looking forward to the New
Year holidays. Decorate trees, go to visit. The New Year brings many chocolates
and gifts. Children have fun with Santa Claus and Snow Maiden on children's
matinees.
3.4.Describe summer and autumn
There are four different seasons in the year and they all are unique. They please
and surprise us with beauty and natural phenomena. All children and adults have
their favorite season. Someone likes spring, someone likes summer, someone waits
for autumn and winter. Every time of the year, just like a person has his own
mood. There are people who love all seasons.
Summer
Summer is a great time of the year. It consists of three months: warm June, hot
July and hot August. Long sunny days are followed by short, warm nights. Most of
the time there is wonderful, dry weather. The birds sing loudly in the blue sky.
Trees are dressed in green clothes. Contrast and beauty of colors are fascinating.

In the summer there are rains, but they are warm and cheerful. The air is heating
up, it becomes hot, and large drops wash off the dust from the roads and leaves on
the trees. And after the thunderstorms the air is filled with freshness. Nature comes
to life. And in the end, beautiful and colorful rainbow appears in the sky.
Summer is time of holidays and vacations. People go to the sea to recreate and
sunbathe. Someone prefers to have a rest in the mountains, but someone likes to
travel to interesting places and to do some sightseeing. It is cheerful and good for
one's health to spend vacation in the village. There are a lot of lovers of beds and
works in the garden. The summer season gives us fresh fruits, berries and
vegetables.
You can spend your time walking in the woods, go on long hikes, or to go fishing
with friends. Unfortunately, the summer is over very quickly and unnoticed, and
we begin to look forward to the next summer vacation.

Autumn
Autumn is the most colorful time of the year from all seasons, when nature
changes its usual appearance to golden colors in glimpses of autumn sun. Autumn
consists of three months: a gentle September, October and November. Autumn
nature pleases us with juicy, bright colors: red, yellow and orange. The days
become shorter and colder. The sun is rarely shown and warms up weaker and
weaker, grey clouds tighten the sky and it is raining heavily. Birds fly to hot
countries.
But soon, the autumn weather suddenly starts to please us with sunny days. This
period is called " Indian summer", and it lasts two weeks. Indian summer is a
wonderful time, when fall gives us the last warm days. The plants fade, the web
flies in the air and shines in the sun.
At this time, especially beautiful in the forest. The birds do not sing so loudly,
many of them flew south. The sounds in the forest become quiet, and only the
rustle of the fallen leaves disturbs the state of magic. The mushroom season
begins, experienced mushroom pickers rush to collect baskets with forest resources
and gifts.
Autumn is a beautiful and slightly sad time of the year. It's time for bright colors,
rains, colds and rustling of leaves.
3.5.Speak on your favourite season

Actually, I am a sophomore at the MSLU, interpreter faculty. Because of this, I

4.1.Describe the room you live in

So, what for me, I come from Retchitsa, a tiny city in the South of Belarus. But
I’m actually living and studying in Minsk. All students, which aren’t having their
own apartments, are required to choose between student’s dormitory and renting a
flat. I’m living in a dormitory. So I would speak about it in detail.
My room is about normal size, I share it with my friend Yana, but we hardly have
problems, both of us are patient enough to enjoy this time we are spending which
each other. We have really fun together.
Well, there are two beds and two desks in our room. I mean, that my own work
place is making my study time better and my mind clearer. I’ve ever tried to make
our room more homely, cozy. I believe, a really pleasant atmosphere can help me
to manage all my tasks.
I especially like sitting on my bed, drinking hot coffee and watching series or
movies. What about other furniture, there are also two shelves located in our room.
They are quite big, I can keep there my books and cosmetics, include lipsticks,
eyeshadow and everything I need for skincare.
I can’t however say that there is much furniture in our room. I’ve forgotten to
mention my wardrobe, it’s cool indeed, really big and capacious. The room is
rather seldom in mess, we try to tidy up here regularly.
We also have our own kitchen and bathroom. In my opinion it’s a vast advantage,
because of we aren’t required to share these rooms with another students.
I generally like this place what I’m currently living in. Nothing is lacking here for
comfort.

4.2.Describe your favourite room in the house

I’m living in a dormitory and I haven’t been at home for a long time. So I would
speak about my room there in detail, because this is my favorite room in the
moment.
My room is about normal size, I share it with my friend Yana, but we hardly have
problems, both of us are patient enough to enjoy this time we are spending which
each other. We have really fun together.
Well, there are two beds and two desks in our room. I mean, that my own work

4.3 The neighborhood where I live

There are many beautiful cities and towns in the world. I would like to visit some
of them, to see with my own eyes. Go some of those places I've only read about.
But there is no place like home. I was born in Retschiza. It is a small town in the
south-east of Belarus with a population of about 60 000 people. To my mind it
isn’t an ideal place to live. But at the same time, I love my native city. My
hometown stands on the river Dnepr. Parks, lanes, bridges across the river add
much to the beauty of the city.
I’m student and I am living in a dormitory. But now because of coronavirus I am
living at home with my parents in my hometown. I would like to tell you about the
neighbourhood where I live.
Our house is comparatively small, but it’s not a problem for us. It’s a one-storey
house with a basement and a garage. There are three bedrooms in the house, a
living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet. We have a garden at the backyard
where my parents grow vegetables and fruit. Every summer we have our own
harvest of potatoes, tomatoes, cabbages, various herbs, apples, plums and pears.
There is a small flower-bed as well. This is where my mother grows the tulips and
the roses.
Other houses in the town are similar to ours. There are a pharmacy, a grocery, a
bakery, a florist, a butcher shop, a newsagent’s, a cinema and any restaurants here
too. We have many little stores and the only one big supermarket .
I get on well with my neighbors. I know the majority of my close neighbours
because they are all nice and we help each other. In my street most neighbours are
helpful so, for example when they leave for a few days, my mother can feed their
pets, their fish, and water their plants. There are a lot of benches all around. I like
to sit on a bench with a cup of tea where I can enjoy the sunsets in the evening.
What I really like about my neighbourhood is the proximity of the shops, my house
and the library so that I walk short distances. I am very satisfied with having a
library in my neighbourhood because I love reading books. My town is a quiet,
peaceful place. Being there is a real pleasure for me. To conclude, I would like to
say my neighbourhood is a good place for me and I’m happy here.

4.4.Talk about your daily household chores

I think nobody likes it when his house is in a mess. Doing household chores and
keeping the house clean and cozy are necessary in every flat.
My parents work hard and they get rather tired after work. So it goes without
saying that they don’t have to manage all the housework and I have to help them.
Everyone in our family has some household chores. But honestly speaking I must
admit that my mother does the majority of the housework. Some things must be
done every day, others need to be done once or twice a week (like watering the
plants).
My daily chores are making my bed, washing up, tidying my room in the evening,
cleaning my shoes and taking out the rubbish. This is my usual routine. I also pick
up my little sister from the kindergarten. Fortunately I don’t have to cook any food
because my mum does that and she really enjoys cooking. I just sometimes help
them and serve the table. Once or twice a week my mother asks me to go shopping
to the nearest food supermarket. I usually buy some bread, milk, fruits and
vegetables.
Once a week, on Sundays my parents give the flat a big cleaning. There is a lot of
work to do: dusting the furniture, ironing the clothes, mopping the floor, clearing
out the bathroom and the kitchen. I am busy with cleaning the carpets in our
bedrooms and cleaning the mirrors.
I don’t consider my household chores difficult and I can cope with them easily,
but sometimes I feel a bit lazy or I may be too busy with my university homework.

5.1 Speak on your meals of the day

I usually have two or three meals a day on weekdays and four meals on my
day off. I don’t often have an opportunity to have a lunch when I’m at university.
My meals are: breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper or tea.
Some of my friends have a snack rather than a meal in the morning. But my
breakfast is a full meal and I have it at 9 o’clock. I don’t like to eat fat food in the
morning, because it’s bad for my stomach and I can later suffer from stomachache.
It is usually bacon, eggs or porridge. Afterwards come sandwiches with butter and
cheese or sausige. Often I eat cereals with fruits and nuts. I prefer cereal with
yoghurt. I usually drink black coffee and just water. I try to drink more water,
because they say that it’s very healthy and makes our body stronger.
As I spend a lot of time at university it’s necessary to have a snack at
midday. I have a snack: a piece of fruit or some biscuits. I really like snacks. If I’m
in the shop, I always choose something new: apples, bananas, kiwis, chocolate,
muesli, yoghurts and others. It’s what I usually eat to lunch. Dinner is at six or
seven o’clock. For dinner I can have meat or fish with a lot of vegetables for main
course. From garnishes I like pasta and rice. For dessert (дизёт)I can have a cup of
tea with a slice of cake. Before going to bed I often drink a glass of water or eat an
apple.
Sometimes I’m trying to keep a diet, but it’s a bit hard for me, so I avoid it
and prefer to do any sports to stay fit.

5.2 My favorite dish and its recipe

My favorite dish are cream pancakes. It’s My Favorite Breakfast Food. I still
love a good omelet(i)tte with a side of crispy bacon, but eating a pancake for
breakfast is like going to a party at your breakfast table, moreover it’s more
healthy to it it. The great thing about pancakes is that you can dress them up
however you want, topped with fruit, drizzled with chocolate syrup(сирэп) or
salted caramel ganache, sweet cream cheese syrup, caramel syrup, or with classic
maple syrup.
Ingredients are: cottage(котидж) cheese, eggs, flour, sugar, salt, baking
soda, vinegar, oil (for frying).
1. Knead cheese with the fork thoroughly(сарэли). Add an egg and
sugar. Mix everything well.
2. Add flour and mix everything again. With blender for one
3. Add more flour if needed)))
4. Let's start making curd fritters. Take 1 tablespoon of the curd mass
with wet hands and form a ball. Flatten it and roll in flour.
5. Curd(кёд)fritters are ready to be fried(фрайд)!!!
6. Оn a hot oiled frying pan pour(поо) the batter in the shape of circles
with a spoon
7. Fry curd fritters on medium heat
8. And overturn
9. Fry until Golden brown on both sides.
10. Bon appetit!
These pancakes will take a few extra minutes to cook, but is it worth it! You
can add different toppings to create totally different experiences.

5.3 Describe one of your visits to a café/restaurant

A lot of people like to go out, because they want to relax and get some new
impressions. Many people prefer to go to cafes(кафэйз) or restaurants. I’m not an
exception. I enjoy eating out. I often have dinner in a good restaurant or café with
my friends or my family. I’ve got a couple of favourite places for eating out.
I often go to a café with my friends. It usually happens at weekend, when
everyone is free from studies. For example, the last time I was with my friend in a
café. First of all, the atmosphere in the café was cute, I would even say adorable. It
was a cozy café with large windows, dark wood tables and high soft chairs. We
chose the table next to the window. The waiter came right up to us and gave us the
menu. The menu contained a relatively many different kinds of dishes. The choice
was really wide.
We have finally decided what kind of coffee we would take. We called the
waiter and made an order. We have been waiting for our order for about 10
minutes. Then we got two big cups of cappuccino and teaspoons.
We asked the waiter to bring us the bill and left after paying. We have made
it in cash. We had a great time there, because the atmosphere was friendly and the
service was really good. It was an excellent evening.

6.1 Speak on the places where you go shopping for food

Shopping is an opportunity to buy everything what we need, from food to
clothes. For many people shopping is a very interesting way to spend their time. It
helps to get everything you want. It can make our dreams come true. By the way,
shopping is a great entertainment too.
Going shopping is a part of our everyday life. But some people find it boring
and hard, others think that it is very entertaining. «So many men so many minds».
But whether you like shopping or not you have to do it because it's a necessity.
There are many kinds of shops in every town or city, but most of them have
a food supermarket, a department store, men's and women's clothing stores,
grocery, a bakery and a butchery. I like to do my shopping at big department stores
and supermarkets.
Most people go to supermarkets to buy food. There are all kinds of food
here: fresh, frozen, cooked and uncooked. We can find meat, sausages, fish and
sea-food, vegetables and fruits, dairy products, cereals, bread, sweets, spices,
strong and soft drinks.
Supermarkets can save a lot of time as you can do all the shopping in one
place. Supermarkets work on the self-service system: you go in, take a basket,
walk round the shop, choose what you want and go to the cash-desk where you
pay. Those who try to save money usually make a shopping list so as not to buy
those goods which they do not really need.
Lots of families do their shopping in the supermarkets once a week. It’s
enough to buy food and some other things for the whole week.
Many people like to go to the market. There you can always buy not only
fresh vegetables and fruits, which are sold in greengrocer’s, but also meat, fish,
dairy products. In the market you can find everything. The main advantage of the
market is trade. You can always bargain and most sellers discount the price. Some
people go to the market not for shopping, but to bargain. They get great pleasure
from it.

6.2.Talk about the places where you go shopping for clothes/goods

Shopping is an opportunity to buy everything what we need, from food to clothes.
When we do the shopping, we get to know a lot of information about different
goods, their prices, quality. Today, shopping is a means of our existence and
living. By the way, shopping is a great entertainment too.
I don’t like shopping, but shopping can change my mood, especially if it is a
bargain. I prefer Internet to different shops and shopping centers. I think it saves
our time and you can buy a product cheaper than it costs in the store.
Usually I go with my parents 1-2 times a year to Poland and there we conduct
global shopping; we go to different shopping centers. We usually buy clothes and
shoes. Thanks to tax free we also save our money.
In Belarus, I often cannot find clothes and shoes that fit me. Because I have my
own special stile.
Moreover, I love going to bookstores. I like the smell of new books. For me,
holding a new book is like eating freshly baked bread. I also like to go to
supermarkets, especially when you need to buy a cake or something sweet.
Because of what I order over the Internet, I often have to go to the post office to
pick up parcels or send letters to my German friends.
For many people shopping is a very interesting way to spend their time. It helps to
get everything you want. It can make our dreams come true.

6.3.Speak on the advantages and disadvantages of department stores

Today shopping malls have totally evolved(иволвд) to catch up with the modern
lifestyle of the human beings. Because most people love shopping and loves
hanging out within its vicinity (висинити) despite not buying anything.
There are various places where you can shop. Now shopping centers are very
popular. They can find everything from clothing and food to electronics shops. We
can say that shopping centers are a mini-city in which life is in full swing. Many
people adore them, especially women. They spend a lot of time shopping in stores.
Some get manicures or haircuts.
Some people like Department stores. In them goods are always divided into
departments, so it is convenient (кэнвиниэнт) to look for what you need. Often
discounts allow you to buy goods even cheaper.
Many people like to go to the market. There you can always buy not only fresh
vegetables and fruits, which are sold in greengrocer’s, but also meat, fish, dairy
products, as well as clothes and shoes. In the market you can find everything, the
main thing to look hard. The main advantage of the market is trade. You can
always bargain and most sellers discount the price. Some people go to the market
not for shopping, but to bargain. They get great pleasure from it.
There are also huge sports shops. They can buy sportswear, shoes, food and
various attributes, such as dumbbells, yoga Mat. Professional athletes love this
place and often spend a lot of time in it. Well-chosen sportswear and footwear are
also the key to their success.
Everyone chooses the shops in which he likes to shop. Some prefer the Internet. It
is possible to shop at any time and order home delivery. It certainly saves time and
effort.

6.4 Describe a market which is worth visiting

Shopping is an opportunity to buy everything what we need, from food to
clothes. For many people shopping is a very interesting way to spend your time. It
helps to get everything you want. It can make our dreams come true. By the way,
shopping is a great entertainment too.
Many people like to go to the market. Worth visiting is Komarovka market
in Minsk. There you can always buy not only fresh vegetables and fruits, which are
sold in greengrocer’s, but also meat, fish, dairy products, as well as clothes and
shoes. In the market you can find everything, the main thing to look hard. The
main advantage of the market is trade. You can always bargain and most sellers
discount the price. Some people go to the market not for shopping, but to bargain.
They get great pleasure from it.
The market is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00. It’s located
in a five minutes walking distance from Yakuba Kolasa subway station. If you
come in the morning, you’ll have more options and less crowd.
The market is divided into the “Otkrityi Rynok” - an open-air market, and
“Krytyi Rynok” - a covered market. The first section that you’ll see is filled with
fruits and vegetables from the local farms. If you continue going deeper along
these lines, you’ll reach several stands with herbs and rare weeds, handpicked and
dried by the grannies, who sell them. A couple of steps further is the beginning of
the fish and seafood department. You can also go around the first floor to see small
shops representing food factories from different parts of Belarus.

6.5.Describe your favourite place to go shopping in Minsk

Such a city as Minsk has a great number of shopping centers and different stores.
What about me, so I especially enjoy the time spent in the Galileo Mall.
The Galileo Mall is a multifunctional shopping and entertainment complex of a
unique format which allows to combine comfortable shopping with diverse leisure
opportunities.
Since opening its doors The Galileo Mall enjoys great popularity among citizens
and guests of the capital. This is not surprising, because it makes it possible to
transform exhausting process of shopping into a pleasant pastime.
There are reasons why I like this shopping center.
1.An extremely advantageous location and a well-developed infrastructure
The Galileo Mall is a 7-storey building with a three-leveled parking lot for 500
cars and a bicycle parking rack. The key advantages of the complex include
favorable location in the heart of the city centre, the proximity to the railway
station and central bus station, and closeness to all major traffic interchanges.

2. The Galileo Mall can offer more than 70 shops, including popular global brands
as well as Belarusian ones. The majority of shops is budget{badgit}-friendly

3. In the Galileo Mall you can find one of the best cinemas in Belarus – Silver
Screen. It features 7 high-tech cinema-halls, located on three floors, two bars and a
comfortable lounge-zone.

4. It must be said that the Galileo Mall regularly organizes a range of cultural
and leisure activities on the occasion of national holidays, as well as special
workshops and thematic interactive shows.
