“Cheating is easy… Try something more challenging, like being faithful and honest 😊”

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
 Answers with erasures are considered wrong. (Dahil kapag mali na, mali na ‘yon wag
ng ipilit kaya lalong lumalabo ang lahat)
 Use the words or names based on the book as your answer. (Doon tayo sa totoo, kasi
nakakasawa na yung mga imbento mong dahilan na masyadong ideyalistiko)
 The student who will be caught in the act of cheating will not be given a chance to
continue his/her examination. (Kaya kung nahuli, umamin na! Ang problema kasi sa’yo
ay nahuli ka na sa akto, magsisinungaling pa #saynotoSecondChance)
 Finish your examination with the given period of time. (Alamin mo ang hangganan ng
lahat. Kasi pag pinilit mo pa maaaring masira lang lahat ng pinagsamahan niyo)

I. Read the poem below and analyze the rhythmic pattern used in the poem. (15 points)

One day I wrote her name upon the strand,

But came the waves and washed it away;
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
But came the tide and made my pains his prey.

"Vain man," said she, "that dost in vain assay

A mortal thing so to immortalize,
For I myself shall like to this decay,
And eke my name be wiped out likewise

"Not so." quod I, "Let baser thing devise

To die in dust, but you shall live by fame;
My verse your virtues rare shall eternize
And in the heavens write your glorious name,

Where, when as death shall all the world subdue,

Our love shall live, and later life renew."

Answer: Spenserian sonnets.
