Some Middle School
Class Syllabus 2020-2021

Welcome
I am very excited to be your math teacher this year at some middle school (virtually and in person)! I look forward to getting to know
you as we build a community of collaborative learning. I have great expectations for you as you prepare for the next level of higher
learning. This classroom syllabus is designed to give you basic information about our classroom policies and procedures, which will
help all of us ensure a successful year.
Digital Expectations (In class expectations will be introduced upon return)
● Please show up at the scheduled time
● Find a quiet place, free from distractions if possible (siblings, pets, TV, etc.)
● Maintain RESPECT in both speaking, writing, and appearance
● Stay on mute. Please click the “raise hand” virtual button on Zoom if you would like to contribute
● Video should remain ON (if possible)

Grading Supplies
● Tests 60% ● One spiral One Subject notebook
● Classwork/Projects 20% for notes/journal entries
● Homework 10% ● At least 3 sharpened pencils
● Quizzes 10% ● Earbuds/Headphones

Assessments
Expect at least one quiz and one chapter test for each unit. You will have the option to submit test corrections for your tests, as long
as you show/explain each step correctly. It is highly recommended that you do this to learn from your mistakes (one of the best ways
to learn!). For quizzes, you may arrange for re-takes preferably after utilizing some tutoring resources offered (in person or through
video resources.

Assignments
Homework will be assigned almost each class meeting unless otherwise noted by the teacher. You are responsible for writing down
the assignment in your agenda and checking the school website. It is important to SHOW WORK on each assignment, or full credit may
not be given.
Makeup work
For regular daily assignments, you have as many days to make up the work as you have been “excused” for your absence. Once we
start a new chapter, any late assignments from the previous chapter will not be accepted.

*Tutoring/homework club will be offered to students needing more support.

*Further distance learning guidelines will be communicated in separate document.

Repeated violations of class rules and expectations will be addressed through parent phone calls, parent conferences, and/or
referral to administration. Remember, there are certain violations that necessitate immediate detention or referral (ex. cursing,
fighting, defiance).
