Daily Lesson Plan Format

Student Learning Objective(s) and Related Assessment(s):

Learning Target: Students will start their first draft of their final narrative project. This means
that they will have a chance at revision and feedback before turning in their final draft.

Language Objective: Students will be able to identify tone and insert sentence variation into their
writing. This means that students will be able to identify the key aspects of their writing when
they revise and edit.

Standard(s): Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective
technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences. (CCSS W.11-12.3)

● Macbeth
● Word document
● worksheet
● Reviewers Checklist
● Writing Organizers
● Access to the Google Slides

Learning Activities:

● Initiation:
○ Students will discuss their expectations of a first draft (5 mins)
■ First Draft— Worst Draft
○ Students will watch a video about the plot mountain. (5 mins)
■ This will be a refresher for the key points we are looking for in their
writing.
○ Students will review their writing organizers. (2 mins)
● Lesson Development:
○ Students will complete this worksheet individually to reinforce how they will be
incorporating the plot mountain in their writing. (10 mins)
○ Once the worksheet is completed, students will use their writing organizers to
begin to draft the first paragraph of their narrative. (5-10 mins)
○ Students will be put into breakout rooms and will use the reviewers checklist to
offer students initial feedback on the structure of their plot mountain. (5-10 mins)
● Closure:
○ Final Review: Students will be given the end of class to ask any clarifying
questions about their grades and assignments since these will be the last class
before the end of the quarter (5 mins)

Individuals Needing Differentiated Instruction:


● Students who are hard of hearing or deaf will be provided with a video interpreter during
the lesson and will also have access to the slides. If able, we will also turn on the
automatic captions on the Teams call.
