The movie Freedom Writers talks about the students whose engaged in gangs and drug dealings, and a

kind hearted and strong-willed teacher named Erin Gruwell. After watching this movie, I’ve realized that
there’s so much sets of values in this movie. The first one is the Aptitude Value, where survival of the
students on their daily basis is very crucial considering their life style. The second one is the Aesthetic
Value. The teacher saw how books would greatly help her students in coping up with their incapabilities
as students and surprisingly, her students saw the beauty of reading. The third one is the Intellectual
Value as well as the Historical Value. I’ve seen this value when the students were clueless what
holocaustis all about. After knowing it, they were eager to know more about it so Ms. Gruwell find her
way to contact those victims of holocaust to further help her students in understanding that. Obviously,
there wasa Moral Value in the movie. When Eva, one of her students, was invited in front of the court to
testify what happened on the night when she witnessed a crime, she told the truth even when her
father wants herto lie. She knows the risk but decided to stick with the truth. The next value I’ve seen
was the Personal Value. The students present their selves based on the race or gangs they are involved
to. They clearly and truthfully shown their goals, interest and desire to survive and die as a warrior. A
Psychological Value was also seen in the movie. How they were raised as a child, their childhood
experiences and how it molded them to be on what they are now. Next is the Cultural Value were
beliefs and cultures divided them in their own worlds. Another value seen was the Sentimental Value.
This value talks about how the students eventually loved books for it symbolizes change and an exciting
chapter to the life of each students. The whole movie has an Educational Value. It is an eye opener to
the viewers on how certain life style and race divides people.
