How does it work?
- The source of the circuit is 240VAC 60Hz or 220VAC 50 Hz and
the component that will collect the power from the source is the transformer. After collecting the power, the transformer will reduce the voltage level from 240VAC to 15VAC which is the needed power by the circuit. It is advisable to put heatsink on transformer because it will deal much heat that can cause damage to the whole circuit. From the transformer, series of diodes which are the rectifier will convert the AC voltage into pulsating DC voltage. This pulsating DC voltage will pass through capacitors and resistors to become stable. After that, the voltage regulator or LM317 will collect the stable DC voltage and will regulate it to the desired voltage. Potentiometer is connected to the regulator to have an adjustable voltage. Then after that the regulated DC voltage will pass through a capacitor, a resistor and a Zener to get the desired value of voltage and ampere which is 0v-12v and 2A.
