Experiment No. 1

Temperature Measurement Unit

Name of Experiment : Temperature Measurement Unit.

Introduction :
Temperature is a measurement of hotness or coolness of substance. In other
words temperature is a measurement of the average kinetic energy of the particles
in an objects. The terms hot and cold is not scientific words but if we have to
specify how much the substance is hot or cold we use refer temperature. There is
lots of devices and sensors are available in market to sense and measure the
temperature. Each device have their own characteristics and have different
temperature range but each and every sensor have importance and have some
limitations also.

Purpose of Experiment : To demonstrate the methods of measuring temperature

and thermometer calibration.

Component of Experiment :
1- Mercury thermometer.
2- Bimetal thermometer.
3- Infrared thermometer.
4- Thermocouples.
5- Stopwatch.
6- Electric Heater.
7- Glass container.

Procedure :
1 - We run the electric heater.
2. We start by reading the water temperature before heating it with the types of
thermometers.
3 - We start by heating the water and we read during each time period the
temperature of all types of thermometers.

Results :

Reading Time (min) T1 T2 T3 T4
