Temperature :- It is the amount of heat in a body or system . * The instrument which measures temperature is the Thermometer. Heat:- It is thermal energy transferred from a warmer body or system, to a colder one. So, one system releases heat and the other one absorbs it. * This thermal transfer will stop when both systems have the same temperature( thermal equilibrium). Test yourself 8.1 page no. 145 • Q1- Heat FLOWS……… this sentence . Ans :- Heat refer to thermal energy while temperature is the degree of hotness. Its means heat will flow from a hotter region to a colder region. Thermometer • Thermometer property :- It is a property which varies according to change of temperature . • Every thermometer is designed on the bases of thermometric property. • E.g. of thermometers – 1- Liquid – in – glass thermometer Alcohol – liquid or mercury – liquid * Thermometric substance is alcohol or mercury . * Thermometric property :- expansion of liquid (change of volume) with an increase of temperature. 2- Resistance thermometer ( resistance is term of electricity ) * Thermometric substances : metallic wire * Thermometric property :- Change of resistance with the change of temperature . 3- Constant volume gas thermometer . * Thermometric substances : gas * Thermometric : change of pressure with a change of temperature. 4- Thermocouple thermometer * Thermometric substances : two different metallic wires. * Thermometric property :- Change of voltage(electrical) with a change of temperature .
