Know, Now, What You Say

Language arts in an evolving world

CDPD 500
LT4: Living discipline photo essay
Sebastian Aviles
The “understanding
and appreciation of
language” is a most
admirable goal given
humanity’s near
universal use of its
various forms.
It is even more
important when one
considers that the
use and structure of
language is
constantly evolving
and thus requiring
re-examination.
When once we used
to study handwriting
as a primary mode of
inscribing our
thoughts...

Poetry of William Wordsworth

We now turn ever
more to digital media
for this.
Though this change
has brought with it a
great deal of
convenience

mail
A great deal of clarity
has been lost to the
transformation
Now more than ever,
we ought to ensure
that we truly
understand the
language we elect to
utilize most readily.
English is one of the official languages of Canada, after all.
So that we may be able to understand
what others say to us,
And so we might
know how to
communicate clearly
with others.

Alberta’s government ASL interpreter,

Randy Dziwenka Canada’s First Nations treaty 7 (a failure in clear communication)
By knowing how to
translate our
thoughts, feelings
and experiences
into words, we have
a hope of sharing in
our existence with
the world
Or at the very
least, we are
afforded the
opportunity to
clear some
space in our
minds.
So, let us inspire,
Let us use and
create with,

And let us appreciate the rich heritage and
full potential of the ever-evolving paradigm:
