EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
Robotics

Robotics is technology to help deepen the students understanding of

mathematics, problem solving and collaboration amongst their peers. Robotics is
used in schools to incorporate technology to teach the stem areas. Students are to
engage in robot challenges working as a team. Students are later evaluated to see
if students progress in the stem areas using robotics.
ROBOTICS IN STEM EDUCATION
Robotics can be used to learn the important four stem areas.

1. Science
2. Technology
3. Engineering
4. Math

Robotics uses

● Visual writing
● Story telling
● Game design
● Project based learning
● Learning theory of constructivism
ADVANTAGES ON USING ROBOTICS

● INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAMMING : In a regular classroom students

don't learn programming like they would in robotics which gives them a
bigger advantage.
● INCREASES STUDENTS CREATIVITY: Students have lots of energy and many
ideas when it comes to something they like so robotics gives students the
opportunity to be creative .
● TURN FRUSTRATION INTO INNOVATION: Students are able to get there
minds off unhappy situations and focus on things they love or enjoy and create
there frustration into innovation.
ADVANTAGES CONTINUED
● CREATES INTEREST FOR A FUTURE
CAREER: In a robotics class students are
exposed to new things which will interest
them for future career choices.
● ROBOTICS CAN BE FOR BOTH GIRLS AND
BOYS: Robotics is for everyone, there is no
gender specific.
● SOCIAL SKILLS INCREASE: Students are to
learn how to work in team, communicate with
others and teaches them problem solving.
Lego Mindstorm robots are
kits used for educational
tools. It walks you through
codings and complex concepts
like logging in data.

Analysis of the end of year state-mandated

revealed that students who used robotics in
education achieved higher grades in
mathematics,measurement,and probability.
