1. Profession:

I chose teaching as my profession because I love the idea of being a role model to young

students. I love being around kids, kids make everything so much more fun. I believe that my

experience through my elementary school years made me want to become an elementary school

teacher. My old teachers were great and made me love school so much that I felt inspired to

become a teacher. My mom also inspired me to become a teacher because she is constantly

reminding me about her sister in Mexico who is also a teacher which I thought was amazing

because I always felt like I was the odd one out but when I found out she was a teacher too, I was

feeling strong about becoming a teacher.

My personal knowledge and skill set consist of being self-motivated, I have the ability to

work under pressure, and I have huge patients. As for personal knowledge I have a good

knowledge on each subject and even, so I am a fast learner, so I could easily catch onto things.

My field observation experience helped me understand the teaching environment because I got

the experience real situations that I will soon face. I will soon e in front of lots of kids who are

relying on me, which means I have to a professional teacher and help each student learn to their

best ability while also reaching certain standards. With the experience I received I Definitely

learned a lot in which I can use for future reference and be prepared for when it is my turn to

become the teacher.

2. Teaching:

The educational philosophy and psychological orientation that I believe that fits my

current educational belief is existentialism because I am a strong believer that students should

have freedom of choice, and individual dignity. They should have responsibility of there own

actions and have judgment on ethical beliefs. Students should gain there own meaning to life.

The historical events that set the stage for how I think about children and schools was the 1954

Brown vs board Education Back in 1896 when the Plessy vs Ferguson happened, racial

segregation in public facilities was legal. Brown established and overturned that law. It is

important to look at students as equal and make it clear that everyone is treated equally and

treated with respect. It is important to view the school as a safe and welcoming place. In 1819

Federal Funds for reservation schools were first granted. It is important for schools go gain funds

to be able to give students the best education with the best teachers, supplies and have a more

secure surrounding for children. There are many more events after this these that really do make

me think about children and schools.

3. Instruction:

The instructional strategies that I will implement in my classroom would be integrating

technology. My experience in the field observation showed me that technology plays a huge role

in students lives. I will have student interaction with one another, one on one help or group to get

everyone’s attention and gather how much knowledge they’ve gained. I also believe in setting a

goal. By setting a goal for each student means they have a purpose to keep trying. Another

strategy I will use is quick assessments and final assessments to recognize each students level of

mastery. I will approach student learning with an open mind, I understand that each student

learns at a different pace and every student learns in a different way. I will need to pay attention

to each students’ abilities to teach them in different ways. I will approach student diversity with

confidence because now there is more technology that will help each student in their own way. I

am bilingual so students who have Spanish as a first language will have a greater advantage

because I can easily help those students into understand and learning English.

Student variability is very important, understand students’ special needs is a must, being

able to communicate in the way that they understand is important, so I would have to gain their

attention in a different approach maybe provide object or shapes, drawings to get everyone to

engage in lessons. Assessments are very important. They help me, and the student understand the

knowledge they have gained and identify the areas they need more focus on.

4. Future:

A couple characteristics and skill that I need to possess to continue this career is

knowledge of subject in order to teach students the correct information, having patients for

students, managing my time effectively and being flexible is student need extra help. I need to

learn more about technology to give students every source of help. I am good witch technology

now but maybe learn a couple more tips on it. A couple of specific steps I will take to achieve

my goal of becoming a teacher is receiving my entire education and passing all my tests to

ensure I am knowledgeable to rewarded with a bachelor’s degree. I will be on the lookout for

available employment spots to be able to start my career. I will gain more experience with

volunteer work either at my old Elementary school or any other school available to be able to

gain experience to ensure that I have all the requirements needed from me to be licensed.
