Chapter One
The Dogs of Paradise.
Hi all! My name’s Noob and I’m a Roblox
adventurer. What do I do? Well, I wander
around all the different Roblox servers
looking for action and excitement. You
could say that I’m some kind of wandering
soul whose only purpose in life is to look for
adventure! I live life to the fullest, making the
most of every opportunity and experience
as it presents itself. And believe me, with so
many servers in Roblox to wander to and
from, there are more experiences to enjoy
than you could ever even imagine!
Is it an unusual choice of life? Of course it is,
and that’s why I love it so much! You see, I’m
not the kind of guy who likes to lie around
home, or work all day in an office getting
a bad back from leaning over a computer.
Nope, not this guy! You could say that I’m in
a perpetual state of wanderlust.

It all sounds cool, and in many ways yeah,

it really is. I’ve seen and experienced it all:
survived disasters, shot down cowboys and
terrorists, and even chopped wood and
farmed land. Yes, I’ve done it all.

You would think that such a lifestyle couldn’t

have a downside but, unfortunately, it does.
The biggest drawback? The moolah. The
greenbacks. The big bucks. The cash. The
Robux. My lifestyle doesn’t really pay that
well. I know that sounds pretty blunt, but it’s
true. I don’t think I need to elaborate when
I say that it can be pretty tough not making
those Robux. The high of the adventures can
really be dampened without the cash to just,
well, keep going.

So, there I was, short on cash and wandering

towards my next adventure. I was pretty
used to having a Robux account showing
zero by now. I’ve always been a muscle
car running on fumes, so I guess I wasn’t
bothered about it too much. At least, not as
bothered as I should be.

As I ambled along, I eventually found myself

on another server. I looked around and saw
what could only be described as the perfect
vision of modern suburbia. What do I mean?
Well, for one thing, I saw rows and rows
of cute, dainty little houses. The houses all
seemed perfect. The roofs and walls were
newly-painted in a rainbow spectrum of
colors and there wasn’t a splotch of paint out
of place. The lawns were perfectly manicured,
and there were no patches of weeds or
overgrown grass in sight. The flowers in the
little gardens beside the houses were all in
full bloom, and a few dogs lay lazily in front
of some of the porches, looking sleepy, full,
and very content.

“This looks like paradise!” I said out loud.

Of course, just like in any server in Roblox,

I would later learn that this place was
anything but paradise. After all, you can’t
have adventures in Paradise, right? I don’t
know, I guess I’m kind of ranting so forget
that.

Anyway, the whole place was so appealing,

so like the scene from a postcard, that I just
had to wander closer towards the houses.

I was cheerful as I approached, but the

smile was soon wiped from my face. As I
approached the first house, one of the dogs
suddenly started barking. He leapt instantly
towards me, taking me by surprise. It was
almost like a switch had been turned on, and
1
Robloxia kid

the family-friendly pet had suddenly turned

into a ferocious killing machine.

The dog made several primal sounds as it ran

towards me on all-fours. I began to wonder
if this really was a pet or whether it was
some kind of prehistoric wolf in disguise.
For a moment, my eyes widened and I was
frozen with fear. I was like a deer caught in
the headlights of a car that was about to turn
it into roadkill. Suddenly, I snapped out of it
and I began to run for my life.

“Yeow! Get away!”

Of course, Fido didn’t listen to me. Like most

persistent dogs, once he had zeroed in on
me, there was no turning back. There was
one thing, and one thing only, in Fido’s mind,
and that was to rip my head from my neck.
That was bad enough in itself, but it was
about to get a lot worse.

I looked back to find that the pack mentality

2
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

of the other dogs had kicked in. Inspired

by Fido’s heroic example, they were now
chasing me down the block as well. Before
I knew it, I had several rabid dogs breathing
down my neck.

“Stay away from me! I was just passing by

the place! I don’t want to hurt anybody!”

Somehow, I managed to stay one step ahead

of the crazy things. Don’t ask me how I
managed it. I could literally smell their doggie
breaths on my neck the whole time. I guess
the fear of getting mauled by a pack of dogs
gave me some extra speed. After all, if my
adventures had taught me anything, it was
that the urge to stay alive was the strongest
urge of all.

“Get away already!”

I had no choice but to keep on running as

the dogs were hot on my tail. My legs were
starting to get sore. I mean, running that
3
Robloxia kid

hard and fast, from zero to max speed, that’s

no joke. It’s like a crazy sprint, or a car going
from zero to 100 in an instant. That kind of
run can burn your legs. I was already starting
to feel the strain but Fido and his friends
were barely getting started. It was like they
were never going to get tired of this. They
wouldn’t be happy until they achieved the
thing they most desired: to pounce on me
and rip me to shreds.

“Got to keep running! Keep running or I’m

doggie chow!”

I could hear the crazy dogs barking behind

me. The sound was getting louder and
louder now; no matter how fast I ran, they
were gaining on me.

And that was when it happened. I was

running straight down the middle of the
main road, the dogs hot on my heels, when I
reached an intersection. Someone suddenly

4
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

popped in front of me. It was one of the

residents taking a leisurely ride on her bike. I
was running so fast I couldn’t stop. We were
sure to collide…

“Look out!”

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. Pretty

lame. I mean, there was no way she could
‘look out’ now. I was getting closer by the
second.

I tried to swerve but it was too late; I slammed

into her as she crossed the road. I clung to
her as I hit her to try and cushion the impact
in some way. It hurt. A lot. We rolled on the
ground in a painful tangle before coming to
a rough stop.

From our position on the ground, we both

saw the dogs rushing towards us. There was
nothing we could do but brace ourselves.

“It was a great life while it lasted, Noob.

5
Robloxia kid

Thanks for the memories.”

That was the last thought as we both lay

there on the pavement. I heard her shout
something, but I couldn’t make it out. I just
closed my eyes and decided to accept my
fate. Yeah, it was nice playing all around
Roblox while it lasted.

Chapter Two
Broke and in the Slammer.
When I opened my eyes, I was flat on my
back. I looked up and saw the blue sky above
me. There wasn’t a cloud in sight, and the
sun was shining down on me.

“I’m alive. I’m still alive,” I said happily.

I had to be alive. The sun shining down on

me was proof enough of that.

Slowly and shakily, I got to my feet. The dogs

were standing in front of me, panting heavily.
They still wanted to get a piece of me, or us,
but they couldn’t now. A large net had been
7
Robloxia kid

cast over them, trapping them all inside. The

more the dogs struggled against the net,
the more tangled up in it they became. They
were still growling and snarling, but I could
see that they weren’t going to get their
hands, or paws, on us anytime soon. They
would eventually just tire themselves out.

“What happened?” I asked.

“The police chief!” the girl said cryptically.

“Get up!”

The voice was gruff and authoritative. This

guy meant business. I knew that he was a cop
before I even saw him. Someone who spoke
that way just had to be a cop. My hunch was
confirmed when I saw the siren on the police
car behind him.

“I already am up!”

“Oh, a wise guy, eh? We don’t like wise guys

here at Bloxburg, and neither do these dogs!
8
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

I was just passing by when I heard all the

commotion. Good thing that I have a huge
net in the back of my car. I usually use it for
perps, not pooches; I’ve a mind to just let
those dogs out to finish what they started!”

“Whoa! Take it easy, Chief! I...”

I tried to explain myself but it was no use. He

was really angry now and determined to pin
something, anything, on me!

”I’ve never seen you and your mug here

before. This guy give you any trouble, Lisa?”

The girl stood up, brushed the dust from her

body, and looked at me with undisguised
contempt.

“He just slammed into me from out of

nowhere! I was just taking my usual afternoon
cycle to lose those pounds when... bam!
There he was. My bike’s totalled!”

She pointed at her bike across the pavement,

9
then looked at me. Not good.

The cop pushed me towards the police car

and slammed me against the door.

“Ouch! Take it easy!”

“I’m not taking it easy against an intruder.

Especially someone like you who’s been
terrorizing the neighborhood! Assault and
damage of property! You should be ashamed
of yourself! Nobody does that in Bloxburg
on my watch!”

“I was trying to run away from those dogs

you just collared! They were going to eat me
alive! What else could I do? I didn’t mean to
slam into that girl!”

The police officer wasn’t listening to any of

my protests. He slapped my wrists together
with a pair of cuffs. I realized that I was
being arrested. No money and now a trip
to the slammer? How bad could it get? My

10
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

adventure here in this new server was off to

a wonderful start.

“Bloxburg? This place is called Bloxburg?” I

asked.

“Stop playing dummy, Riddle-Man! We’ve

been on your tail for a long time now, but
you’ve finally slipped up! When those dogs
growled at you, we knew that we had our
man!”

“Riddle-Man? Are you serious?”

The cop was talking in, well, riddles. He could

have been speaking a foreign language for
all I understood.

“Mister, I don’t know what you’re talking

about! I’m not even sure I know where this
is. I was just wandering around when I came
across your town… Bloxburg, right? As soon
as I got here, your crazy pooches all snapped
and went after me! And by the way, my

11
Robloxia kid

name’s not Riddle-Man! It’s Noob!”

“Cut the fake names already, Riddle-Man!

Those pet pooches are sweet and loving to
their owners but mean on crooks! You’ve
avoided capture for too long, but we’ve got
you now! I guess you simply got too arrogant
for your own good!”

“Come on, Mister! I don’t know what

you’re..”

Before I could even finish my sentence, the

policeman hauled me into his car and drove
away. I gazed out the window behind me,
watching the crazy dogs become smaller
and smaller as we drove away. They were
soon dots on the rear window and eventually
disappeared. Yep, this was turning out to be
a great adventure so far.

12
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Chapter Three
The First Riddle.
“Stay there and get comfortable. You’re
going to be rotting in that cell for a very long
time!”

I had been taken to Bloxburg’s police precinct

where the cop threw me in a cage.

The cell itself wasn’t so bad. It was a large

space, big enough for me to walk around
and stretch my legs. I wasn’t cramped or
anything, but there was no way that I was
getting out of there. Through the bars on the
door, I could see the policemen performing

13
Robloxia kid

their daily routines and, somehow, that

just made my stay a lot worse. I knew that
I was innocent; there was no reason in the
world for me to be behind bars. I just didn’t
know how I could possibly prove that to the
policeman who had arrested me.

Luckily, it turned out that I wouldn’t have to.

“Chief, this just came in!”

One of the policemen in the office approached

the Chief. He appeared frantic and was
clearly stressed. So, I had been arrested by
the Chief of Police himself then? Well, that
was just great!

“Whoa, slow down, Roxy! Slow down and

tell me what’s..”

“Maybe I ought to just show you, Chief!

Look!”

Poor Roxy was shaking as he handed over

to the chief a white piece of paper. It was
14
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

a note, and from where I was sitting, I had

no way of reading the contents. The chief,
however, could read it perfectly. All the color
left his face after he was done.

“This turned up immediately after you caught

this guy in the suburbs. It’s the Riddle-Man’s
latest riddle! This guy in the slammer can’t
be him. It must have been sent by somebody
else!” Roxy explained.

The chief turned to me with an unsettled

look on his face.

“You’re free to go, kid. I mean, Noob,” he

said.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“Whoa, whoa! What are you talking about?”

The chief appeared annoyed and irritated by

my confusion.

“Do I have to spell it out for you? You’re free

15
to go! Now get out, now!”

The chief unlocked the cell door and it

opened with a loud squeak. He motioned
with his hand to show me the way out. His
other hand was still holding the note that
Roxy had given to him.

“I’m not going to lay down a red carpet for

you, Noob. If you expect an apology, you’ll
be waiting a long, long time. Just get out
already! I have real work to do!”

I still didn’t understand his change of heart

but I decided to take him up on his offer
before he changed his mind.

“All right, fine, fine already!”

I walked out of the cell as a free man again. I

was relieved to be out but still curious as to
what was going on around here.

“What’s going on, Chief? Why did you

suddenly let me go? And who is this Riddle-
16
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Man I heard you talking about?”

“For a homeless bum who wandered into

our perfect little town, you’ve sure got a lot
of questions! Didn’t you just hear what Roxy
said? Someone else sent us the riddle so
you’re off the hook!” the Chief barked.

“I’ll answer your questions, Noob. I guess

you do deserve some kind of explanation
after what’s happened to you.”

It was Roxy, another officer at the station.

He sure seemed a lot friendlier than the chief
and I was grateful for that.

“You see, our peaceful little suburb of

Bloxburg has been terrorized for a while
now by a mysterious thief.”

“A thief! So, I guess this town isn’t the

peaceful paradise that I thought it was!”

“We don’t really have that many problems,

but this thief has been driving everyone nuts.
17
Robloxia kid

He breaks into people’s homes and steals

their valuables.”

Someone else walked into the precinct just

as Roxy was explaining this to me. The dude
had on a cleaner’s outfit, and he looked really
tired.

“Jeff! You’re late again! This is why the

precinct smells and has trash all over! How
can we count on it getting clean when the
cleaner’s always late, and the very first thing
he does when he eventually comes in is chat
with people?”

It was the chief. He was roaring mad now,

and poor Jeff, the cleaner, was feeling the
full brunt of his rage.

Jeff removed his cap, revealing a bald, yellow

head.

“Sorry, Chief! I’ve been working in the

suburbs. It’s pretty tough getting from there

18
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

to here on time.”

Roxy nodded his head.

“Jeff’s right, Chief. Cut him a little slack. I

mean, he’s the only general cleaner in all of
Bloxburg!”

“The only general cleaner?” I asked.

This was already sounding pretty strange,

but I kept my thoughts to myself.

“Yeah! Poor Jeff’s got to keep everything

clean, from the suburbs to the Police Station!
That’s really tough work for a single dude!
It’s incredible how he manages it!”

“Jeff, General Cleaner. Nice to meet you!”

Jeff stretched out his hand to me.

“Noob. Nice to meet you, Jeff.”

It was pretty suspicious that Jeff had just

arrived. When Roxy told me he was the
General Cleaner of all of Bloxburg, my mind
19
Robloxia kid

started to wonder. I mean, he could have

been the one who opened the gates earlier
and released the dogs. But why would he do
that? To get the chief to blame me for being
the Riddle-Man? It was mighty suspicious,
but I kept it to myself. This wasn’t the time to
throw around accusations. Not yet, at least.

“Yeah, he does a cracking job of cleaning, all

right! I patted you on the back, Jeff. Happy
now? Now start cleaning already!”

“Yikes! On it, Chief!”

Jeff picked up his cleaning supplies and

started to work as the chief continued to
bark at him.

“Boy, you really are a sourpuss, aren’t you?”

I said.

“You insult me one more time, and I’m

throwing you back in that cell!”

I shook my head. The prospect of going back

20
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

there was not very appealing.

“Consider my lips sealed, Chief! Can we go

back to what we were talking about before,
Roxy?”

“Sure! I’ve got a lot to tell you!”

The chief raised his arms in frustration as he

walked away.

“Fine, go ahead and chit chat! Seems I’m the

only one doing any work around here as per
usual!”

As I was saying, Roxy, I don’t get it. I marched

into town and I didn’t see a single smashed
window or loose door. All the houses looked
neat and perfect; you mentioned a thief
prowling about, but they sure didn’t look like
anyone broke into them,” I queried.

“Credit that to the homeowners and Jeff.

He cleans up good, but the homeowners are
really meticulous! They love their houses to
21
Robloxia kid

be neat and tidy and will go to any lengths

to keep them looking shiny and brand-new.
When the thief breaks into the house, we
start an investigation, but the homeowners
are so concerned with keeping things neat
that they fix up the house before we even
get there. Let’s just say that you now know
why Bloxburg is known for its neat houses!
Believe me, this only makes our job of
catching this guy even more difficult.”

It was the chief who spoke now. He hadn’t

walked out, after all. I could sense the
frustration in his voice. I guess that was why
he was so stressed and shouting at everyone.
It must have been really difficult to do his job.

“I guess that must be tough. Don’t tell me.

This thief. He’s the..”

“..Riddle-Man. Yeah, you guessed it, Noob.

That’s what the papers call him. They gave
him that nickname because he has this really

22
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

annoying habit of poking fun at us by leaving

riddles at the scene of his crimes,” Roxy
replied.

“The guy fancies himself as some kind of a

genius. He thinks that he’s smarter than all
of us and we can’t catch him. The riddles are
there to taunt and insult us. I have to admit,
he’s actually making us look like fools. It’s
so frustrating! I’ve been the Chief of Police
here for over 10 years now, and I’ve never
encountered anyone as bad as this guy!

“You’ll have to forgive the chief for what

happened earlier, Noob. We’re all determined
to catch the Riddle-Man. There’s even been
a reward posted for his capture. That’s why
everyone is on edge. When you just strolled
into town, the chief got anxious. On behalf of
the police and the chief, I’d like to apologize
for what’s happened,” Roxy said.

The chief frowned at Roxy, and I thought I

23
Robloxia kid

heard him growl like the dogs I’d met earlier.

Roxy was taking a big risk apologizing like
that. I could see that the chief was not the
kind of man who would accept a mistake. He
took a lot of pride in being the chief of a clean
and neat town like Bloxburg, and I could see
that the Riddle-Man was taking advantage of
this. It was easy to mess with someone like
that. It sounded like a bad situation but all
I could focus on was the one line that Roxy
had said earlier.

“Did you say that there’s a reward out for

this Riddle-Man?” I asked.

Roxy nodded.

“Yeah. You bet there is. 100,000 Robux.”

“Whoa!”

I almost fainted as I heard the number. A

hundred grand! I had never held that much
Robux in my life. That was a whole lot of

24
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

money, especially for someone who was

currently flat broke. Suddenly I had a reason
to chase down this Riddle-Man.

“A hundred thousand Robux! That is a whole

lot of dinero!”

“You think you can catch him, Noob? I don’t

mean to burst your bubble or anything, but
the whole police department has tried and
failed. No offense, but I can’t see how a new
guy that wanders into town can do what an
entire department can’t.”

Roxy was right. He wasn’t a mean guy like the

chief, and I could see that he was doubtful. I
guess you couldn’t blame him. His words did
carry a lot of weight. How was I supposed
to catch this guy when the whole Bloxburg
police department couldn’t? It seemed like a
fantasy of some kind but I didn’t care. All I
could think about was that hundred thousand
Robux. I was tired of being so broke; if I had

25
Robloxia kid

to catch a thousand Riddle-Men then I would

do it for that price.

“I’ll find some way to do it!”

I heard the chief snicker as I spoke. I didn’t

know what to make of that laugh of his. It
was the laugh of a tiger before it pounced on
its unsuspecting prey. Let’s just say that the
chief was really intimidating.

“I like your spunk, Noob. Maybe I misjudged

you. Anyone who wants to take down the
Riddle-Man is good in my book. Good luck
with catching him! Believe me, far better
men have tried and failed.”

“Uhm, o-kay.”

I didn’t know what to make of the chief’s

comment. Like I said, he was anything but
friendly so I was pretty cautious around him.
Plus, it was pretty difficult to relax around
someone who had just arrested me!

26
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“You want that reward money so badly, it’s

obvious that you don’t have any Robux on
you.”

“I’m flat broke, Chief.”

“Being flat broke, it doesn’t take a detective

to know that you’ve got nowhere to go.”

I shrugged my shoulders.

“If you had given me the chance to explain

myself earlier, I would have told you that I’m
a wandering-soul type of guy. I stroll around
the servers looking for action and adventure.
I don’t have a permanent home.”

“The kind of guy with no permanent address,

eh? Don’t tell me. Someone framed you for
some murder you didn’t commit, you’re
running from the law, and you wouldn’t
want me to make you angry, right?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,

Chief.”
27
Robloxia kid

The chief burst into more laughter and

slapped my back so hard I thought I would
puke on the spot. Somehow, I just managed
to hold in my last meal.

“I’m just kidding! That was another wanderer

from a long time ago! He decided to band
with another group of nobodies chasing
after a glove while making millions! Anyway,
I digress. We need to catch the Riddle-Man
pretty desperately, and I did act a little hastily
earlier. Since you don’t have a place to stay, I
know the perfect way to make it up to you.”

“How?”

“You can stay with two of my friends, Ruby

and Dylan. They’re just as determined to
catch the Riddle-Man as yourself, and they
always love to entertain guests. You can stay
with them and the three of you can work
together to help us catch this Riddle-Man!”

“Whoa, whoa! I haven’t even met them yet!”

28
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

The chief shook his head, and it was apparent

that he had already made up his mind. It was
clear that there was no arguing with him as
he reached for his office phone.

“I’ll call them now. Don’t worry about it.

Dylan owes me big, and he and Ruby will
be more than happy to take you in. In fact,
they’d take you in even if Dylan didn’t owe
me. I told you before, they love guests!”

I shrugged my shoulders. There was no point

in arguing with the chief. Besides, who was I
to turn down free lodging?

“You don’t have to worry about a thing,

Noob! Dylan and Ruby are two of the most
upstanding citizens in Bloxburg. Believe me,
they’ll be happy to take you in,” Roxy added
reassuringly.

“I’ll take your word for it, Roxy. Before I go,

can I take a look at the note the Riddle-Man
sent?”
29
Robloxia kid

“Eager to start already, eh? Well, why not?

Good luck trying to solve it though. He always
sends us these riddles before he commits
a crime. It’s the perfect way to taunt us;
we’ve never managed to solve a single one
of them!”

I took a look at the paper and read the riddle

aloud.

“Soft, hairy, from door to door. I am the pet

that always stays on the floor. What am I?”

“Boy, that’s a tough one. It’s usually

something that he steals from one of the
houses in Bloxburg. I’ve got no idea what
that could be,” Roxy admitted.

I was equally baffled. My mind wrestled with

the riddle, but not for long. The chief put
down the phone and nodded at me.

“I just spoke to Dylan and Ruby. They’ll pick

you up here in a few minutes,” he said.

30
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Chapter Four
Right Under My Nose.
It didn’t take long to settle in at Dylan and
Ruby’s place. The two of them were nice and
friendly enough. What was pretty clear was
that they had a definite interest and passion
in catching this Riddle-Man of Bloxburg.

“So, you want to catch the Riddle-Man of

Bloxburg too, Noob?” Dylan asked.

“Yeah. I mean, who wouldn’t want to catch

that dude with all the Robux they’re offering?
I could really use the cash.”

“Well, I’ll tell you what. Dylan and I have an

31
Robloxia kid

offer for you that you simply can’t refuse,”

Ruby teased.

“Try me.”

“We’ll help you catch the Riddle-Man, and

you can even keep all the Robux.”

“Whoa! That sounds too good to be true!”

I couldn’t believe what Ruby and Dylan were

proposing. They smiled at me and I could
tell that they were both serious. I couldn’t
believe what I was hearing. I mean, they had
already been so kind to me by giving me a
place to stay. Now they were telling me that
they would help me catch the Riddle-Man
AND let me keep all the Robux? There had to
be some kind of catch, right?

“It’s true, Noob. There’s no catch,” Dylan

assured me.

“We both just want to catch this guy really

badly,” Ruby added.
32
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“Okay, pardon me for asking, but why

would you do that? I mean, why would you
want to catch this guy with no reward for
yourselves?” I asked.

Dylan smiled at me.

“Ever heard of Sherlock Holmes, Noob?” he

asked.

“I’m vaguely familiar with him. He was a

great detective who lived in England back in
the time of dinosaurs, right?”

Ruby chuckled.

“Close enough.”

“He was a famous detective who was aided

by his assistant, Watson. Together, they
solved a lot of crimes that were considered
unsolvable back then. His only really tough
opponent was a dude named Moriarty. That
guy always stretched Sherlock Holmes to
the limit. It ended pretty badly for them both
33
though.”

“Well, that doesn’t sound so pleasant,” I

said.

“Most of the great stories aren’t. However,

Holmes and Watson were forever
immortalized as the greatest ever detective
duo. There’s even a great book about them!
This guy called Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote
it.”

“Wow! A Sir? I bet he’s really smart…”

“He was. Well, anyway, Dylan and I look up to

Holmes and Watson. We want to be the best
detectives that Bloxburg has ever known.
This Riddle-Man is our toughest opponent,
and we both want to stop him at all costs.
The money isn’t important to us anymore.
You said it yourself: everyone’s got a great
home here in Bloxburg. The only important
thing now is finding out who the Riddle-Man
is and stopping him.”
34
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“We want to be the greatest detectives ever,

but we’re not above asking for help, Noob.
When the chief told us about you and how
you wanted to catch the Riddle-Man, we
knew that we could use your help.”

I paused and looked around Dylan and Ruby’s

home. The thought of all those Robux had
me pretty amped up and I was finding it hard
to settle down. A ton of trophies and plaques
lined the shelves and walls. Most of them
were tokens of gratitude and memorabilia.

“Wow. ‘In recognition of Dylan and Ruby’s

service to Bloxburg from the Chief of
Police’?”

Dylan nodded with pride. I could see that

Ruby was just as flattered.

“Yep! That was the time we solved the

mystery of the indoor swamp monster.
If you look up there, you’ll see a plaque of
gratitude from Chili Burgers for the time we
35
Robloxia kid

solved the mystery of the cold cut chef! And

that one over there? One of my personal
favorites! The case of the golden face! And
that one there...”

Ruby interrupted Dylan mid-sentence.

“All right, that’s enough, Dylan. I’m proud

of our achievements too, but we’ll probably
bore Noob to death if we go over them all!”

Ruby was right. There were so many plaques

and trophies scattered around, I think we’d
have been there all night if Dylan explained
them all one-by-one. They were clearly master
detectives, which got me to wondering...

“You said you guys wanted to be the greatest

detectives ever? Well, with all these plaques
and stuff, haven’t you guys already achieved
that?”

Dylan turned to me, and I saw that he was

a little angry and frustrated now. His quick

36
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

change of mood was kind of creepy.

“You ever heard of that giant dog with his

friends that goes around solving mysteries?”
he asked.

I shook my head. “Not really.”

Dylan raised his hands in excitement.

“Good! Finally one of the more enlightened

ones! You haven’t heard of him, but a lot of
people have! Do you know how frustrating
that is? That a dog gets more credit for being
a detective than we do?”

I could see that Dylan was getting worked up

now. His tone of voice was rising, and it was
all Ruby could do to calm him down.

“I haven’t heard of them...”

“Good! Good! A dog! A dog is a more famous

detective than Dylan and Ruby? After all
we’ve done? It’s just so insulting!”

37
Robloxia kid

Ruby patted Dylan on the back. It seemed to

calm him down a little.

“Take it easy, Dylan. We’ve got a guest, and

we need to focus our attention on catching
the Riddle-Man.”

“You’re right, you’re right. Sorry. I just get so

frustrated...”

I could see that these two were brilliant

detectives, but definitely more than a little
obsessed. They really took this detective
thing way too seriously.

“So, do you know the chief personally?” I

asked Dylan.

“We were best buds back in the day. He

wants to protect Bloxburg just as much as
we do.”

“I know he can be a bit, well, extreme,

sometimes,” Ruby said, spotting the look of
disbelief on my face.
38
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Yeah, coming from someone who seemed

pretty extreme about their work too.

“He’s just really passionate about his work.

That’s why he can kinda go overboard
sometimes.”

“Tell me about it,” I said.

The memory of being chased by the dogs

and being locked up in a cell was still fresh
in my mind. I sure didn’t want to experience
anything like that again anytime soon.
However, we were up against the Riddle-
Man, and from the way they described him,
he would be a really tough opponent to
beat. This didn’t matter to me, though; what
was important to me was the cash. I really
needed all that Robux, and then some.

“Enough about the chief. Now that we’ve

made our introductions, it’s time we all got
to work,” Dylan instructed.

39
Robloxia kid

“Agreed.”

He showed me to a large whiteboard

displaying several notes and newspaper
clippings. There were articles about the
Riddle-Man and some notes like the one that
I had read in the precinct earlier.

“This is all the info we’ve got on the Riddle-

Man. We’ve pored over it again and again.
We even solved some of the riddles at the
beginning, but the cops wouldn’t listen. Of
course, they’re a lot more receptive now.”

“You see, the Riddle-Man sends riddles that

are really clues to what he’s going to steal
next. He’s literally taunting the police to
catch him,” Ruby said.

“I can see that this guy has a serious problem

with his ego,” I replied. “I mean, if you’re
sending clues like riddles, taunting the
cops, you really think you’re somebody and
everyone else is nobody.”
40
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“Serious issues indeed. This Riddle-Man

is clearly seeking attention. He wants to
be known and respected. But respect and
recognition isn’t enough for him; what he
really wants is to show everyone that he’s
smarter than they are, and that’s why he’s
taunting them with his clues.”

“Exactly! That’s a perfect profiling of the

Riddle-Man, Dylan!”

“Thanks, Ruby!”

As Dylan and Ruby exchanged compliments,

I couldn’t help but get another creepy
feeling. Ever since this whole thing started,
I had tried to be on the lookout for possible
suspects. I mean, with all that Robux on
the line, I was really putting my thinking
cap on! Jeff was definitely a possibility, but
after meeting with Dylan and Ruby, I began
to wonder again. The way Dylan described
the Riddle-Man was eerily similar to his own

41
Robloxia kid

personality. This Riddle-Man sure had a lot

of similarities with Dylan: he was intelligent,
had an ego, and definitely wanted more and
more recognition. Could it be...?

“Well, do we have any suspects at least?” I

asked.

Both Dylan and Ruby shook their heads.

“No. Bloxburg is a nice little town, with no

prior history of anything like this. I mean,
we’ve had our fair share of crazy stuff
happen in the past, but any crimes have been
quickly solved, and the perps were usually
outsiders. Everyone knows everyone here,”
Ruby replied.

“Exactly. No one has any idea who would

do this. Everybody is everyone else’s friend
around these parts. I don’t agree with what
my bud, the chief, did to you, Noob, but I
know him well enough by now. He did that
because he didn’t know what else to do.
42
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

He has no leads, and when the dogs saw a

newbie enter the town… well, you know the
rest.”

Ruby chuckled.

“The chief has his heart in the right place,

but he’s never been one to check his facts or
do any investigating.”

“Speaking of investigating, we better start

doing some of our own here. Noob, you’ve
got a copy of that latest riddle, right? Any
ideas?”

It was right then that it happened. It was

like a light switch suddenly turned on in my
head. I had been thinking about the riddle
non-stop since reading the note. Now it hit
me. It was so simple that I didn’t know why I
hadn’t figured it out sooner. The answer was
right under my nose.

“I know the answer!” I screamed excitedly.

43

Chapter Five
A Thing of Beauty. A Work of
Art.
“Soft, hairy, from door to door. I am the pet
that always stays on the floor. What am I?
I thought it was a dog, at first. Guess I was
wrong,” Roxy said.

“Use your head, Roxy! A dog doesn’t stay on

the floor all day! Noob solved the riddle and
tipped us off, but it was way too late. The
dastardly Riddle-Man had already struck.”

Roxy had his head bowed as the chief laid

into him. He was clearly feeling bad, and so

44
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

was I. Roxy was friendly to me when no one

else was.

“Come on, Roxy! I’m going to need a lot

more effort from you if you ever want to get
promoted!”

“I’m sorry, Chief. I just didn’t know...”

“I’m not paying you not to know!”

“You can’t really blame Roxy, Chief,” I said.

“The Riddle-Man was banking on that pet

thing to throw us all off. The fact is, the
answer was never a pet at all. It was a sly
play of words.”

“Nice thinking, Noob. Don’t worry. We’ll

catch this guy… eventually.”

The chief was in one of his better moods, at

least towards me. I had solved the riddle but
it was too late. We were all huddled together
in the house that had been burglarized by

45
Robloxia kid

the Riddle-Man.

The owner of the house, Mr. Blocko, was

beside himself.

“He took it! He took my precious…my

precious rug!”

“We’ll get it back. Don’t worry, Mr. Blocko,”

the chief interrupted.

“It’s too late! He took my most prized

possession and you couldn’t stop him! My
Roblox custom carpet!”

“Uhm, guys? I don’t mean to make things

worse, but that’s not the only thing that the
Riddle-Man did,” I said.

“What now, Noob?” the chief asked

exasperatedly.

“Not only did he take Mr. Blocko’s prized

possession- he’s going to strike again.”

I took out a piece of paper left behind at the

46
scene of the crime. Everyone else was so
shocked at what happened that they’d failed
to notice it.

“What does it say?” Ruby asked eagerly.

“I have a ring, but no fingers. I used to stay

still all the time in the past, but now, I follow
you around. What am I?”

“Great. Another unsolvable riddle!” the chief

said.

He was really getting annoyed with this

Riddle-Man. I could see from the expressions
on everyone’s faces that we were all just as
stumped as he was. Roxy tried to comfort
him, but it was no use. There seemed to be
no stopping the Riddle-Man!

The only person seemingly not depressed

by this turn of events was Dylan. He was
already thinking of the answer, and a whole
lot more.

47
Robloxia kid

“We’ll catch this guy; I know it,” he said,

plainly.

“Why do you say that? He’s stumped us so

many times already! And you being so smart
doesn’t seem to help us one bit,” Roxy
retorted.

Roxy was clearly still sore after getting a

mouthful from the chief. I was starting to
see a less-than-friendly side to Roxy that I
hadn’t seen before.

“Don’t let that get you down, Roxy. This

Riddle-Man wants to get caught. These
riddles are some sort of compulsion on his
part. He wants to act like he’s smart and all,
but I can sense that a part of him is actually
crying out for help. It’s a cry for recognition
and attention.”

“Smart. Really smart,” I said, impressed by

Dylan’s deep thinking.

48
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“That’s Dylan for you. He’s always trying to

get into the head of these perps. This Riddle-
Man is really complex and Dylan enjoys trying
to figure him out,” Ruby said.

“There’s nothing fun about a burglar

taunting the police and stealing stuff from
good citizens. We have to figure out where
he’s going to strike next and stop it from
happening! Come on, Dylan. You used to be
a top player at Roblox High School, didn’t
you? Or you, Noob? You managed to solve
the other one after all. We need to crack this
one pronto!” the chief said desperately.

My mind raced to find the answer to the

baffling riddle. Like all riddles, it was a
mishmash of opposite ideas, and it seemed
like nonsense. Figuring out riddles was a lot
like finding a needle in a haystack, or finding
your way in the dark. It seemed so difficult
until you really focused and concentrated.

49
Robloxia kid

You had to keep poking, keep moving, until

you found the answer. When the correct
answer was found, all the nonsense made
sense. It was like a thing of beauty or a work
of art.

“I’ve figured it out! We have to head to the

Roblox Museum of History!” I exclaimed.

“I hadn’t thought of that. So, what is he

going to steal? A thing of beauty? A work of
art?” Roxy asked eagerly.

I nodded with all seriousness.

“This object is both,” I answered.

“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s get
there, now! Move your behind, Roxy! You’re
always late when this Riddle-Man strikes!
Never on time to catch him in the act! It’s plain
incompetence! You’re an embarrassment to
the force!”

The chief was really laying it hard on Roxy

50
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

now. I guess all the frustration from not

catching the Riddle-Man was starting to take
its toll on everyone.

“I never get any respect. I’m the hardest

working officer on the force, and no one
respects me! The chief gets on my case
now, but he’s clearly forgotten all the times
I worked my butt off for this town. Just
once, I wish I would get some respect and
recognition!”

“I heard that, Roxy! Get moving!”

The chief and Roxy got into the squad car

and drove to the museum, with me, Dylan
and Ruby following in their green van. It was
a bit too big for just three people but Dylan
loved it… a lot.

“I call it the Mystery Van!”

“Get driving already, Dylan!”

As we drove to the museum, my mind started

51
Robloxia kid

to race. I thought back to what Roxy had just

said about having no respect. The chief had
also mentioned that he was always just too
late to stop the Riddle-Man. I wonder...?

52
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Chapter Six
A Blast from the Past and the
Next Riddle.
About 10 minutes later, we arrived at the
Roblox Museum of History. A lot of stuff
housed there was a blast from the past:
some volcano samples from Roblox Natural
Disaster Survival, many rare jewels from
Roblox Mining Simulator, and even some
dinosaur fossils from Roblox Dinosaur
Simulator! Can you imagine that?! I mean,
dinosaurs dominated planet Earth for
millions of years until their sudden extinction
60 million years ago. Isn’t that incredible?

53
Robloxia kid

Many scientists think that a huge asteroid

landed on Earth, causing them to become
extinct, but no one really knows… Well,
that’s what I gathered back when I was in
Roblox High School, anyway. I really wanted
to take a look at the fossils, but there was no
time for that now – not while the Riddle-Man
was still at large! We raced over to the case
where the artifact was held, but the result
was the same.

The Riddle-Man had got there before us. The

object he had chosen to steal was a… landline
telephone. “I have a ring, but no fingers. I
used to stay still all the time in the past, but
now, I follow you around.” Get it? Anyway,
this telephone was part of Roblox’s history,
dating back to a time when technology was
just about to pick up. It was an artifact that
jumpstarted a lot of significant events that
changed the history of Roblox… It could
easily fetch a good fortune to collectors or
54
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

history buffs. The shattered glass display

taunted us, just as the riddles taunted the
cops. This was getting frustrating.

“No one can move this fast! How could he

have stolen it so soon?” the chief questioned.

“This Riddle-Man is a real menace. It’s almost

as if he’s one step ahead of us all the time,”
Roxy bemoaned.

“Tell me something I don’t know. He always

IS one step ahead of us. He’s making fools of
us all,” the chief replied.

The chief was starting to lose his patience

and for good reason. This Riddle-Man was
starting to seem more like a force of nature
than a common thief. His skills were amazing,
and we simply couldn’t catch him. It was like
playing a futile game of “Catch Me if You
Can.”

“I don’t want you to blow your top any more

55
than you already have, Chief, but there’s
another note,” I said.

I held it up for him to see and the chief

slapped his forehead in frustration.

“This has to stop somehow!” he exclaimed.

“It’s a short one. It reads, ‘I am black and

white and full of fuzz. What am I?’

The chief raised his hands in annoyance and

shook his head.

“No idea! I can’t take any more of this!”

“Neither can we. We have to get going, but

Ruby, Noob and I will brainstorm this at
home,” Dylan responded.

He sounded as if he too were about to crack.

The Riddle-Man was starting to get to us all.
I could imagine the Riddle-Man, wherever
he was, laughing and mocking us all. None
of us seemed capable of catching him, and

56
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Bloxburg was suffering for it the most.

“I don’t blame you, Dylan. You guys go back

home and think about it. I think we should
all take some time to try and figure out this
perp’s method to madness.”

“Thanks, Chief.”

Dylan’s voice was exhausted as we turned

and left the chief and Roxy in the museum. I
actually felt bad leaving them there, staring
at the empty and shattered display case.
Was there any way to stop this Riddle-Man
of Bloxburg?

As soon as the three of us climbed inside

Dylan’s car, however, his behavior suddenly
changed. Full of energy once again, he
grinned widely at me and Ruby.

“Whoa, what’s up, Dylan? Why are you

smiling?”

“Ruby’s right: there’s no reason to be smiling

57
Robloxia kid

over anything right now. The Riddle-Man’s

got us stumped. We’re no closer to catching
him, and he’s stealing at will now.”

Dylan shook his head.

“Maybe not. I think I’ve figured it all out. I’m

pretty sure we can catch the Riddle-Man, but
we have to act now.”

58
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

Chapter Seven
The Riddle-Man Revealed, at
Last!
Dylan drove to the police station as fast as
he could. We made it there before any of the
other cops. It was late at night now and the
place was empty. Most of the officers were
out patrolling Bloxburg. So I immediately
noticed that there was a faint light inside the
station.

“Someone’s inside,” I said.

“No one’s in that place at this hour. So,

whoever is inside must be...”

59
Robloxia kid

“The Riddle-Man. Yes, Roxy. Tonight, we’re

going to catch him and finally put an end to
his crazy crime spree!”

Dylan sounded confident. He was really sure

about this, and when I heard him, I couldn’t
help but agree.

We entered the police station hurriedly.

“What are we doing here?” I asked Dylan.

“We’re going to catch the Riddle-Man, Noob.

If my hunch is right, he’s going to strike at
the police station. Stealing something here
will be the ultimate insult to the cops. If he
pulls it off, he will prove, without a shadow
of a doubt, that he can run rings around the
police with little effort.”

“Something about his ego and wanting to be

caught, right?” Ruby questioned.

Dylan nodded.

60
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“But what does it have to do with the riddle?”

I demanded to know.

“It’s simple, really. ‘I am black and white and

full of fuzz. What am I?’ It must be a police
car! So the Riddle Man will strike at the police
station!”

“Wow you really are a great detective,

Dylan!”

“Thanks, Noob. But you’ve figured out a few

of these yourself,” Dylan said humbly.

We made our way down to the storage area

where most of the police equipment was
kept. Sure enough, we immediately caught
sight of a shadowy figure walking about.
It was just as Dylan had predicted: the
Riddle-Man was going to strike in the place
everyone least expected him to strike - the
police station!

We cornered the shadowy figure, and I

61
expected to see the Riddle-Man, only we
didn’t. We saw someone else, and I knew
that Dylan was wrong.

“Chief! What are you doing here?” I asked.

I couldn’t understand any of this. My mind

was racing. We were here to catch the Riddle-
Man, and instead we found the chief? What
was going on here?

“What am I doing here? What are you three

doing here? I’m just here checking stuff out. I
am the Chief of Police after all.”

The chief spoke calmly and without any kind

of fear or tension. I stole a look at Dylan’s
face; he looked sad and disappointed.
Shaking his head slowly, he took out a small
revolver.

“Give it up, Chief. We’ve already figured

it out. There’s no need for you to put on a
show anymore.”

62
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“What are you talking about, Dylan? I’m

the police chief, for crying out loud! I’m just
spending a late night at the precinct, checking
things over! Now, put that gun down!”

You could cut the tension in the room with a

knife. Dylan had known the police chief for
quite some time now. They had worked on a
lot of cases together, and now, he was asking
Dylan to drop his weapon. Dylan shook his
head.

“I realized that the only way the Riddle-Man

was getting the jump on the police was if he
were a cop himself. That way, he could send
the riddles after the crime was done and
there would be no way to catch him. I actually
expected it to be Roxy; I never expected it to
be you, Chief.”

Dylan was speaking for me too. Up until this

point, I had been running through my head
all the possible suspects. Jeff made a great

63
Robloxia kid

case to be the Riddle-Man. After all, with his

job as a general cleaner, he had access to all
the crime scenes and could disappear and
reappear at will, covering the Riddle-Man’s
tracks.

Dylan himself also made me suspicious. After

all, he had the sheer intelligence to make the

crazy riddles and elude the cops. He also had
an ego that craved more and more fame. He
had the perfect profile to be the Riddle-Man
himself.

Roxy was also a great candidate. It was

just as Dylan had said: Roxy was a cop, and
he could easily stay one step ahead of his
colleagues. He had also showed a resentful
side that wanted to be recognized, just like
the Riddle-Man.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if any of

them turned out to be the Riddle-Man. But
the chief? It sounded impossible!
64
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

The chief shook his head. He seemed a lot

more nervous now.

“Dylan, I don’t know what you’re talking

about.”

“Yes, you do. That slip of paper there, folded

up in your pocket… that was going to be
the next riddle left here after you stole that
thing from the precinct. The Riddle-Man
would have thumbed his nose at the police
yet again. Why, Chief? Why?”

It was a brilliant plan, but Dylan had figured it

all out. The chief realized that denying it was
futile now. He raised his hands in surrender.

“Why, Dylan? Why? You said it yourself. The

Riddle-Man wants to insult the police. He
wants to insult authority and the law. You
always loved the law, Dylan. That’s why
you wanted to become a great detective.
You were becoming famous for your skill
and smarts. Me? I’ve always been the dumb
65
Robloxia kid

police chief with his heart in the right place.

It wasn’t fair! I wanted to be smart and
famous like you! The only way to do that was
to reinvent myself, to create..”

“..the Riddle-Man. It fits in perfectly,” I

said.

“But you were the Police Chief of Bloxburg!

You were the guy everyone looked up to!
Wasn’t that more than enough for you?”

Dylan’s voice was cracking now. He sounded

genuinely hurt, almost like a teenager who
suddenly realized that his idol was not as
great as he seemed.

The chief grinned at us, keeping his gun

pointing our way.

“Everyone looked up to me? Everyone looked

up to me? You’re supposed to be the great
detective here! The one who can see things
others can’t. The one who can observe and

66
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

note the little details that often just slip past

other people. Didn’t you hear a word I just
said? They didn’t look up to me! They pitied
me! I didn’t solve any of those cases of old.
It was

always Dylan and Ruby, the two greatest

detectives of Bloxburg! Me? Me? I’m just
the bungling police chief who doesn’t know
anything! I’m just the police chief that hauls
the crooks off to their cells after you guys
solve the cases! Do you know how that makes
me feel? How small and insignificant?”

“Chief, come on! You were a pillar of the

community! Everyone knows the Chief of
Police of Bloxburg!” Roxy said.

“Yeah? Is that so? Well, what’s my real name?

What’s my name? And not ‘the Chief of Police
of Bloxburg?’ That’s just one long title that
means nothing!”

Everyone kept silent. I couldn’t believe it; the

67
Robloxia kid

chief was actually right. No one knew what

his real name was. I was pretty much excused
because I had just arrived. But Roxy, Dylan,
and Ruby? They didn’t know, and they had
worked closely with him for years.

If they didn’t know, I was sure that no one in

Bloxburg did either. The chief was just known
as, well, the chief. I could only imagine how
that must have hurt him.

It hurt him bad enough to create the persona

of the Riddle-Man.

“What did I tell you? No one knows who

I really am! I’m just a cop doing his job!
But with that note in your hands, Dylan, I
become something better. Something far
more dangerous! I become the Riddle-Man!”

In a strange and twisted way, it all made

sense. I could actually understand where the
chief was coming from. I couldn’t agree with
what he had done, but I could understand
68
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

his pain and frustration.

“So that’s it, then? This was all a play to

show everyone that you’re smart? To attract
attention and get famous? You’re pathetic!”

Those were strong words from Dylan. Strong

words that the chief definitely did not

appreciate.

“You’ve got a lot of nerve, Dylan! You’re the

guy that’s jealous of Sherlock Holmes and
a dog! Everyone here knows you, but you
still want to be more famous! That’s a glory
hound to me!”

Dylan shook his head.

“It doesn’t matter, Chief. You broke the law,

and we’re going to take you in.”

Dylan wasn’t backing down, but neither was

the Chief. They were like two separate forces
of nature and neither would budge. I didn’t

69
Robloxia kid

like it. Something had to give.

“You’re full of it, Dylan! You’re just so full of

it, and I have had it with you!”

Something told me that the Chief was about

to pull the trigger. It didn’t matter how smart
or confident Dylan was. None of that would
have mattered to a bullet.

Just as the chief was about to fire, Roxy

stepped in.

“Don’t do it, Chief. Don’t do it, or I will shoot.”

Roxy pulled out his own gun, and pointed it

at the chief. Two policemen drawing their
guns, and Dylan right in the middle of it all…
yeah, it was a pretty tense standoff, to say
the least.

The chief smiled at Roxy. There was nothing

friendly about his smile.

“So, now you’re going to fire at me, Roxy?

70
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

You’re going to fire at your chief?”

Roxy shook his head. I could tell that he was

trembling, and was clearly nervous. I was
sure that the chief could tell too.

“You’re not the chief anymore, Chief! You’ve

just become the main suspect in the Riddle-
Man case!”

The chief nodded, and his smile grew wider.

He actually looked pleased by what Roxy
said.

“So, I’m a suspect now and not the chief, eh?

Still doing things by the book, Roxy. That was

always the problem with you. That’s why

I always got on your case. You never could
think outside the box!”

Before Roxy could fire, the chief fired his

gun upwards. It hit the light on the roof,
shattering the long bulb into a million pieces
and leaving us stumbling in the dark.
71
Robloxia kid

“What the heck? He turned out the lights!

Why would he do something like that?” I
said.

“You’re a moron like everyone else, Noob!”

The voice came from the darkness itself

now. We all knew it was the chief, but he
sure sounded a lot creepier now.

“I’ve been working this lame job for so many

years now! I know this station like the back
of my hand! I can move around in this place
in the dark, which is something I’m sure that
none of you can!”

The chief was right. The darkness and his

own familiarity and experience gave him
a distinct advantage. He could ambush us
anytime from the dark, like some ninja of
old. It didn’t look good at all.

“Dylan? Dylan, I can’t see you! Got any bright

ideas?” I shouted.

I called out to the darkness and Dylan

answered.

“None that come to mind. Sorry! The only

thing I can think of is to scatter and run!”

I expected a better plan from a master

detective, but hey, I guess I would just have
to make do with it. We all would.

Chapter Eight
Shots in the Dark.
Right after Dylan spoke, we started to move
in different directions, groping in the dark.
You could imagine how that turned out.

“Ouch!”

We heard the sound of someone stumbling

into some furniture. It was Ruby.

“Ruby! Where are you? I’ll come and help

you!” Dylan called.

“Too late for that now!”

“Eek!”
74
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

We heard the sounds of a struggle, and then

the chief spoke.

“I’ve got Ruby, Dylan! So you better move

real slow now.”

It was the chief. We still couldn’t see anything

but he sure sounded confident.

“You’re bluffing, Chief! I can’t see anything!”

Dylan replied.

“He’s not bluffing, Dylan! He’s got me all

right! Sorry!”

It was Ruby. She sounded scared. We realized

that the chief wasn’t bluffing; there was no
way that Ruby would say anything like that
unless the chief really did have hold of her.

“Chief? Chief? I can’t see you, but don’t hurt

her, okay? Please!”

Dylan sounded really desperate and I

couldn’t blame him. It was frustrating to just

75

stand there entirely helpless…

“Anybody try anything stupid and see what

happens!”

“Nobody’s doing anything stupid, Chief,”

Roxy whined.

“We’re not going to risk Ruby’s life, Chief.

Please, just let her go.”

“Stop calling me ‘Chief!’ I’m not the chief

anymore! I’m the Riddle-Man! And I’m going
to get away from here!”

“Do whatever you want! Just don’t hurt

Ruby!” Dylan begged.

“That’s the trouble with you kids! Dylan,

you’ll never be known as the greatest ever
detective. Not while you’re not willing to
cross a line! And you’ll never be a great cop,
Roxy! You’ll always be a failure because
you’re never willing to take a risky shot!”

76
“You’re crazy, Riddle-Man!”

Dylan was seething now, but there really

wasn’t anything he could do. Not while the
Chief, er, the Riddle-Man, had Ruby.

“There, that sounds a lot better! Call me

whatever you want but I’m getting out of
here and taking Ruby with me as insurance.
Now this whole Riddle-Man schtick’s been
found out, I’ll just lie low for a while. Or
maybe I’ll come up with another gimmick
that’ll...”

Before the Chief could finish, we heard a loud

noise. It sounded like he had been struck
with a blunt object.

“You talk too much.”

The voice came from behind the chief, and

this time it wasn’t Dylan or Roxy.

“Someone get the lights back on!” Dylan

shouted frantically.
77

Suddenly, we saw a light beam in the

distance and it was flashed towards where
we saw the chief last. The light cut through
the darkness and we saw the Riddle-Man,
lying on the ground. He was out cold.

Ruby ran towards Dylan.

“Are you all right?” he asked.

“I’m fine now.”

Standing over the Riddle-Man was Jeff, the

general cleaner.

“I was just passing by when I heard everything.

The chief was so intent on getting away that
he forgot that I have a late-night cleaning
shift at the station.”

It was finally all over. The Riddle-Man had

been caught.

Epilogue
Roxy was already cuffing the police chief.
There was no way he was going to escape
now. The reign of the Riddle-Man was finally
over.

“I would have pulled it off too, if it weren’t

for..”

“Don’t say it, Chief. Don’t even say it! Don’t

remind me of that silly dog detective and his
friends!” Dylan said.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about! But

it’s Riddle-Man, Dylan! Riddle-Man! Is that so
hard to remember?”

“Fine! If you’re really crazy about being known

as the Riddle-Man, we’ll all call you Riddle-

79
Robloxia kid

Man from now on. Just stop reminding me

of that silly dog! I’m the smarter detective,
but he always gets all the glory! How unfair
is that?”

“I’ll give it to you, Dylan. You are a smart

detective. I don’t know how you could have
figured everything out. Not after I planned
everything so meticulously. I made sure of
every little detail. I made sure to cover all my
tracks. I guess you just beat me, Dylan. You
always were the smarter one.”

Dylan smiled at Ruby.

“I can’t take all the credit. I have a great

partner who always backs me up.”

Dylan turned and patted Ruby on the back.

She looked really flattered, and a little
surprised.

“You mean that, Dylan?”

“Definitely, Ruby. I guess I was so obsessed

80
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

with being the greatest detective that I

forgot that it’s a team game too. I could
never have solved all those cases by myself.
I need you to back me up, Ruby, and I’m
grateful that you do.”

Ruby looked really surprised now. She hadn’t

expected Dylan to say something like that.

“Well, I.. thanks, Dylan. I’m glad that you

appreciate my help.”

“I do, Ruby. And I’m never going to forget it

again.”

I was glad that Dylan had learned a valuable

lesson in all of this. He had realized how
important it is to appreciate real friends that
have your back. Friends like Ruby.

Roxy had his hands tight on the Riddle-Man’s

wrists. The cuffs were on them even tighter.

“I called the other cops in. They should be

arriving any time now to take the chief in.”
81
“It’s the Riddle-Man! Riddle-Man! Can’t any
of you get that right?”

Yeah, the once upstanding Chief of Police of

Bloxburg was now in cuffs and insisting that
he be called the Riddle-Man. It was all a little
bizarre to say the least.

When the other cops arrived, they were just

as shocked as we were, if not more so. The
looks on their faces said it all.

“Chief? You’re... you’re the Riddle-Man? No

way!

“No way, Jose! This just can’t be happening!”

“Why? Why? Why?”

The disgraced chief scowled at the circle of

cops surrounding him. He still had a lot to
say.

“You’re all shocked that I’m the notorious

Riddle-Man? Well, don’t be! At least now I’m

82
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

somebody! I’m somebody now!”

Dylan and Ruby shook their heads as Roxy

and the other cops led the chief away. They
could still remember the old chief. The chief
as he once was. An upstanding cop, a stickler
for the law… all that and more. Whether the
chief believed it or not, he had been someone
you could look up to. Now, he was ranting
like a madman and we could see him for who
he really was: an insecure glory hound who
wanted more than recognition.

“I still can’t believe he’s the Riddle-Man,

even after we caught him,” Dylan admitted.

“I can’t believe that he could be that obsessed

with becoming famous. I mean, he was so
driven that he took on another persona and
committed those crimes? There’s a lesson
to be learned there for all of us,” Ruby
responded.

“Something we would all do well to learn.”

83

Dylan pondered.

It was a thoughtful moment for everyone.

Everyone except me that was. I was pretty
concerned about something else.

“Whoa, whoa! Now that the chief’s been

identified as the Riddle-Man, who’s going
to get the reward for his capture? Is there
even going to be any reward for his capture?
I mean, he was the one who put it up in the
first place! I still need my Robux!”

Dylan smiled at me.

“I’ll ask Roxy about it first thing tomorrow,

Noob. He’s a fine cop, and I’m sure he’ll try
his best to reward us. And don’t worry, if
there is a reward for catching the chief, rest
assured I will keep my promise. I’m a man of
my word, and I did say you could keep all of
it after the case, right?”

Dylan’s speech reassured me.

84
Diary of A Roblox Noob Bloxburg

“Thanks, man! I really need that Robux!”

I wasn’t sure if I’d end up getting the Robux

or not, but hey, that would be another story.
And I am the kind of guy that loves a good
story and new adventures…
