The students will understand that the concept of simple and compound interest
will be helpful in saving, investing, and ensuring financial stability of an
individual employee.
How can the understanding of simple and compound interest will help an
individual employee to choose the right insurance and investment through
presenting different offers of some major Banks in the Philippines?
The learner should be able to use their knowledge of simple and compound
interest to come up with a presentation of different offers from the major banks
in the Philippines that will help an individual employee to be informed about
the possible way to save, invest, and secure their money for future use.
Objectives:

In this performance task, the students should be able to:

1. apply the formula of simple and compound interest in comparing the offers of the major banks in the
Philippines;
2. create a presentation that shows the different offers of the banks with their respective portfolio and
investment plans;
3. produce a comparative table through slide presentation that shows the different offers of the major
banks in the Philippines; and
4. make a persuading statement about the best bank that will give the best offer for an individual
employee.

Performance Task:
Goal: Students will present and decide which bank is better for saving and investment of a thirteen month pay.
Role: Financial Advisor.
Audience: Employees of a certain company
Situation: You are the financial advisor and you were asked to do a financial counseling about on how to save
and invest a certain money and suggest which bank will give the best deal in terms of insurance and investment
in the long run.
Product: Create a presentation (information bulletin) that will show the comparative offers of different banks
that will be suited for a certain expenditure of an individual employee.
Standards: Your work will be evaluated using a rubric with the following criteria:
1. Appropriateness of using the formula for simple interest and compound interest in different offers of
major banks in the Philippines;
2. Accuracy in applying simple and compounding interest annually for investment offers of banks and
annual interest in deposits;
3. Presentation/explanation of the information and computation to persuade the audience/employee on
what bank will be better to invest with;
4. Creativity of the slide presentation; and
5. Punctuality and compliance.

• Document Report (presentation must be converted to pdf)

Procedures:
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

1. This performance task is a group work consists of 7-8 members each. Each group will be given
different principal amount and 3 banks to compare.
2. Create a comprehensive presentation that will help an individual employee to decide which bank to
save and invest with.
3. Formulate general computations about the offers of different banks for an individual employee.
4. Create a general comparative table that will show the simple and compounding interest that a certain
employee will receive after 15 years from the 3 major banks.
5. Make a persuading statement that will guide and help the employee to decide which bank is the best
for savings and investment.
Guide Questions:
a. In terms of simple interest, which bank will give a higher appraisal in 15 years?
b. Using compounding interest (annually), which bank will give a higher gain in 15 years?
c. Which bank will give a better deal in terms of interest rate for a certain portfolio or offer?
6. Present the different offers of the major banks in the Philippines using PowerPoint presentation.
Convert the presentation into portable document format (pdf).
7. Peer evaluation form must be accomplished by each member and to be summarized by the group
leader.
8. Performance task grade will be divided into two components:
a. Final Output – 100 points
b. Peer Evaluation – 25 points
Total grade = 125 points.
9. Guidelines on how to submit the output and forms will be posted in Canvas. These must be submitted
on or before November 24, 2020, 11:59pm (for all sections).
