Unit evaluation Essay

Wiltshire College

In level 2 Creative Art media we have been recently studying Animation. In

our first lessons we researched about lots of different animation film
producers to have an idea of the subject and to know what we should do.
After we had done some research about the producer’s we had been given a
ready printed horse on a paper where we had to cut them out and put it
around a spinning wheel and at the end it would look like they were running.
In our second lesson we made our own silhouette animation where we had
to design animation characters and a background then film them. This was
my first time I used the cameras to make an animation and I found this
process really difficult because you have to be very careful that you don’t
miss any shots. And lastly, we done something quite different to the other
animations, we made 3D animation out of clay and carry on the same prosses
with the silhouette animation.

In creative art media I learned the difficulties of making an animation

because you have to take so many shots and you need to make sure that you
do not miss out anything important. I researched lots of clay animations for
my project, but I mainly researched Pingu and Mia Mao because I wanted to
do something similar to them and one of the main reason, I was looking at
them was because it was my favourite clay animation when I was younger.
This really affected my project because I had something clear on my mind I
and I knew what I was going to do. We overcome our problems by using
paper clips and pens because we were struggling so much to keep the tree
up. I was set with the camera I had to take shots and move the character
each time. In this unit I learned about myself that that I do have ability of
making an animation and taking control of the camera. I think our animation
and script meet our standards because we have only just started this course,
but our projects and ideas are so good and high-quality work. In the future I
would like to improve myself by making my films more challenging like
adding more details or making the film longer.

The most part of the unit I enjoyed was the silhouette animation because I
thought it was really cool making animation out of card paper and it was
really fun making characters. In the future I am going to apply my new skills
to develop media project by first researching other producers then see how I
can make mine more interesting and making sure it’s got good quality
because I personally wouldn’t watch anything with bad quality.
