Safety protocols: Keeping track is easier said than done

“Safety first” – everyone knows that. That is why we have Welding Safety Inspections to ensure the equipment and processes
that vessel crew members work with are of satisfactory quality, so we can reduce the risk of an accident occurring and keep
the crew members safe.

But keeping track of safety protocols is often easier said than done.

Due to busy schedules of ship operators and crew members, it may be a struggle to find time to update checklists of all the
tasks that need to be done to ensure that the welding equipment and tools are maintained in safe working conditions.

Without proper safety checks, unwanted accidents can occur, and the consequences could range from damage to the vessel
and its equipment, which would be very costly to repair/replace, and in extreme cases, the health and well-being of the crew
members can be impacted.

But without a streamlined process in place, safety checks can be very time-consuming. Pair that with having a sea of items
to check and complying with regulations such as the OCIMF SIRE VIQ7 or Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant
Seafarers, it may suddenly become overwhelming.

We’re here to make it easier.

Welding Safety Inspection service

Our Welding Safety Inspection (WSI) service is based on our WSI mobile app which is built to
document inspection findings so blind spots for welding safety can be easily identified and
improvements can be made.

We include photographs and dive into explanations in instances where there are deficiencies.
We explain the deficiencies we are seeing, what safety protocols come into play and then we
go one step further; we give recommendations to remedy the deficiencies at hand.

This is how our WSI service works:

Remote Welding Safety Inspection

With the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become increasingly difficult for Port Service Engineers to go onboard vessels. In such
instances, we can also arrange for our Remote WSI service – simply send us pictures and information that we will need, and we
will create a WSI Report along with the usual key findings and recommendations.
