Outlook in Travel and Tourism Industry

By

Angielica N. Rabago

In the past years, tourism industry had been boomed worldwide. Millions of travellers are willing to
spend their money in engaging to tourism because of that every country's economy benefits the most.
However it changed almost as soon as news of the virus became widespread in late-January, travel
demand to Asia from the rest of the world plummeted. Even before it was World Health Organization
announce that it is now a global pandemic, majority of airlines began to cut flights to China, and other
locations in Asia as coronavirus-related anxieties led passengers to avoid travel to the region.

According to the report of Rappler in April 1,2020 published by Ralf Rivas, airlines in the Philippines
pleaded to the government for access to credit with low rates, as the novel coronavirus grounds the
industry almost to the point of bankruptcy.According to ACAP “The Philippine carriers are facing
existential threat to their survival which is faced by other airlines in the region and in other parts of the
world,” ACAP comprises Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia. In addition, the Luzon-wide
lockdown has led to around 30,000 canceled flights and affected 5 million passengers. ACAP cited the
Center for Asia Pacific Aviation’s forecast that most airlines will be bankrupt by May due to the
pandemic. It is just some ofthe evidence how this pandemic affects the travel and tourism industry.

Now, some places have been back to normal state but with some precautions to be followed. Airline,
Hotels and other related tourism and travel facilities are trying their best in order to cope up in this
situations. They have been very strict when it comes to the safety and security of their customer by
regulating the right social distancing and testing of every clients. This brings a peace of mind to the
customer as well as to the cabin crew and every employee they had.

As to sum up, I believed that travel and tourism will be more secure and safe in the future and it will be
more mobilized because there will be a strict precautionary measure and technology will have a great
rule for this.
