 Introduction

Background of the Study

Oregano has numerous uses to support the living. Many dishes were made aromatic because of

oregano. Not only does oregano good in food, its oil also promote many health benefits. Oregano

oil helps our body to prevent cancer; it is cure for cough, flu and many more. Today, Dengue is

prominent since we‘re experiencing rainy days. Dengue is cause by mosquito (Culicidae

pipiens.). Mosquitoes are one of the most medically significant vectors; they transmit parasites

and pathogens, which are responsible for the spread of severe human diseases like dengue,

Japanese encephalitis, filariasis, yellow fever, malaria and chikungunya (David et al. 2014;

Benelli, 2015). The common methods in getting rid of mosquitoes are using coil, and

commercialized spray but this products are using chemicals that is harmful in our health. So, the

researchers decided to make a way on how they can maximize the use of Oregano while giving a

solution to the most common problem facing by the community. So they come up in making the

Oregano as an alternative mosquito repellent.

Statement of the Problem

The general problem of this study is how may the Oregano Mosquito Repellent be

developed and evaluated in terms of effectiveness and usability.

The main objective of the study is to construct Oregano Mosquito Repellent. This study

pursues to answer the following inquiry:

1. Will the product able to kill mosquitoes?

2. Will the product be effective in terms of:

a. Killing ability

b. Odor

c. General Acceptability

Hypothesis:

1. The Oregano Mosquito Repellent able to kill mosquitoes.

2. The Oregano Mosquito Repellent will significantly be effective in terms of:

a. Killing ability

b. Odor

c. General Acceptability

Significance of the study

Mosquitoes are harm in the community. Due to this problem researchers have the idea of getting

oregano as repellent. This product is made to prevent the spread of dengue. Another reason is to

have an affordable mosquito repellent that does not use any chemicals. Benefits include the

environment, the people's health and the Philippine economy.

Scope and Delimitation

The purpose of this study is to produce cheap and effective mosquito repellent that won’t use

any chemicals.

The experimental study will be conducted to certify if the Oregano mosquito repellent is better

than commercialized spray. The study conducted in Limay and Morong, Bataan.

Hypothesis

Null: There is no significant difference between the commercialized spray and Oregano

mosquito repellent in terms of quality, effectiveness, and general acceptability.

Alternative: There is a significant difference between the commercialized spray and Oregano

mosquito repellent in terms of quality, effectiveness, and general acceptability.
