The Importance of Learning English

English, the Lingua Franca, is a language tool to communicate with people all over the world
that there are two important things to learn English. First of all, learning English helps
students to get scholarships to study abroad. Many studens who want to continue their
education outside the city and even abroad to get a higher education that is more challenging
than before. Then, the number of students who want to study abroad has been proven by
Indonesian students who passed the LPDP scholarship program in 2019 which reached
20,255 people, delivered by Sri Mulyani who is the Indonesian Minister of Finance. The last
but not least the importance of learning English is for business. The goal of learning English
is not only to be able to speak English, but to be able to make success in any employee's
career. The business community has now expanded overseas, so that English has become a
global language for shipping, airline industries, etc. In addition, there are also many foreign
companies in Indonesia, for example, in 2020 there will be 7 foreign companies that will
relocate their business in Indonesia, said the Director of Promotion Development of the
Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Alma Karma. In conclusion, learning English is not
only able to speak English, however to continue education in English speaking country and
business.
