The Government is on its way to securing a vaccine supply

Carlito Galvez says that the government will sign a tripartite deal with Astrazeneca and private
companies tomorrow, for the purchase of 2 million doses of COVID 19 vaccines from the United
Kingdom. Galvez clarifies that this purchase is funded by the private sector.

The government aims to buy 20 million doses from astrazeneca. This is on top of what will be coming
from the private sector, so right now, the government is negotiating and exploring other strategies to
reach this goal.

Galvez says the roll out of vaccines will most likely take place by late second quarter up to the end of
2021. He said the goal is to vaccinate at least 20 million Filipinos every year until the government is able
to cover 60 to 75 percent of the population to achieve a herd immunity.
