Course Name Effective Writing and Communication (Engl. 33/GE 33)
Course Credits 3 units
Course Description This 3 unit course is all about writing and communication. It seeks to help students to effectively write and communicate
in all aspects. This short course will cover the basics of writing and communication. It will focus on sentence grammar that
every Filipino students need nowadays. Additionally, it has many opportunities where students can maximize their skills in
writing and communication.

Course Outcomes 1. To know the basics of writing,

1. Know the basics of Writing Reflective Writing Students are task to participate in Reflective Writing to
evaluate their learning towards the basics of Writing.
2. Master sentence grammar Pen and paper test After a thorough discussion and application on
sentence grammar, teacher made test will be answered
by the students to evaluate their mastery on sentence
grammar.
3. Have a solid grasp on Paragraph and its Pen Blog Entries A portfolio like activity named Pen Blog will be
elements administered by the teacher itself. This activity will run
throughout the duration of the assigned topic. Students
are directed to write according to the elements of
paragraph. This evaluates students’ learning towards
the Paragraph and its elements.
4. Gain skills on Forms of Discourse Portfolio and Performance Tasks Students will submit compilation of their writing activity.
The topics will be given by the teacher. After
submission, they will be assigned to deliver their
entries, for argumentation, teacher will administer a
SPAR Debate, for Description and Exposition, they will
