Walton is a Bangladeshi based conglomerate which comprises a good number of


subsidiaries and affiliated businesses under the Walton brand such as Walton Motors,
Walton Mobile, Walton Electronics and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited. Suppose,
Walton wants to focus more on innovation and do you think they should convert their
traditional management structure into corporate entrepreneurship ? Explain your
thoughts logically based on the article given here.

Answer:
If Walton wants to concentrate more on innovation then I think they should transform their
traditional management structure into corporate entrepreneurship. There is an example in this
article that Kodak was very good at carrying out their business model but paid the price for not
concentrating enough on innovation. In the present world, if you want to survive you have to be
innovative. So, if anyone wants to perform for the long term then they have to go for corporate
entrepreneurship. Because no company cannot be more innovative without the culture of
corporate entrepreneurship which we needed most in today’s world if we want to survive or
compete with the competitors. Most probably Amazon is the only company that they’re proud of
their failures. Failure isn’t a positive thing but you’ll have bugs when you experiment.

Alexander, founder of modern entrepreneurship said that there are two ways to get into
innovation. Among this, he told about corporate entrepreneurship which is the most emerging
choice in next coming years. So, Walton wants to convert its business structure into corporate
entrepreneurship so that they can sustain their business for the long term. If they can then they
create a lot of opportunities. Employees are more interested than before. They would have the
confidence to do their job in a different and better way because there is no barrier. Since Walton
has a versatile business culture, it is easy for each employee to adopt a new business culture.
Nowadays the sets of growth and innovation are set by corporate entrepreneurship. Statistically,
businesses with strong and clear corporate entrepreneurship orientation are performing better
than others. For this reason, there is a high chance to achieve improved efficiency, growth,
satisfaction for the workers and also which is the most important part that is innovation. So, if
Walton wants to concentrate more on innovation then they should more concentrate on corporate
entrepreneurship rather than other strategies.
