REACTION PAPER: STRATEGIC FORMULATION (GROUP 2)

First, we would like to mention the overall look of the presentation. In every slides they use
colors that are pretty much pleasing to the eyes so they are really nice to look at. The shapes and
images used are nice too. The slides are well organized, it was arranged coherently and with proper
application of chronological order so it was easy to follow, each slide also has not too much lines so
it didn't look too cramped, the person assigned to the report and synchronization is really good.
The background is very exact to the topic and related to strategic management. Also, there are
quotes before each topic which we think is nice addition to the presentation which somehow gives
an insight on the following topic.

With regards to the contents, their report is all about strategic formulation, defines
organization, its points of interests like the target market, customers, offerings and the
organization's adaptations to changes and challenges. They give the information and knowledge

and give the meaning of the said topic which is a continuing process that evaluates the business
and its industry. It clearly explained it step by step. It clearly describes the generic and business-
specific factors that reflect a company’s overall operational performance, and its performance in its
business units and functional business areas including corporate ethical, and social responsibility.
The group also define the strategic mission, also they quoted too that " organizations are forward-
looking and they want to achieve something as they make the business along" which we totally
agree. We learned the different sets of strategic objectives which represent on what the
organization must achieve in order for it to stay competitive in the field, where competitive strategy
is a long-term plan of action that the organization's devices towards achieving a competitive
advantage over its competitors.

The strategic formulation process enables the organization to determine what is critical and
important to the success it also forces the organization in determining their objectives. Their

very understandable and caters so much knowledge and ideas about strategic formulation.
The overall idea is informative and powerful to inculcate knowledge to the readers. The
meanings under the subtopics are straight to the point so it’s easy to understand. Specifically, the
part of strategy formulation with those guide questions to formulate the data and how to use
them. On the other subtopics though, examples would be nice to add more information and give
some situation or example about their topic it will be better if they include some scenario of the
steps in strategic formulation to understand them further.

In their report, we can see that the design is simple, the slides are not overcrowded and the
choice of color is good, it is very pleasing to the eye and made us excited to read every slides. It
consists minimal slides which give us blast. The presentation is very informative

Analyzing its content, it is well presented, the current and up-to-date concepts of the said topic

businesses. Their report gives all the information and knowledge that we must know about the
strategic planning. The information was arranged coherently, showing an example in the beginning,
for listeners to know the overall info that should be considered in making a strategic plan. Followed
by the step by step process for further discussion, with the guide questions to formulate better
results. First they give the meaning of strategic planning and its importance. Strategic planning is a
process to provide direction and meaning to day-to-day activities. It examines an organization's
values, status, environment, and relates those factors to the organization's desired future state,
usually expressed in five- to ten-year time periods. Strategic planning is both a reaction to, and a
tool for adapting to, those changes, and creating an organization's future within the context of
change. Strategic planning provides the means for an organization to adapt its services and
activities to meet changing needs in its environment. It provides a framework not only for the
improvement of programs but also for the restructuring of programs, management, and for
evaluation of the organization's progress in these efforts.
The presentation also has this guide questions that starts with who, when and how, so the
listeners will be guided with these as the presentation answers these questions, we learned who is
responsible with strategic planning, how it is made and when does a firm need to formulate and
apply a strategic plan. They also included examples that made us understand the presentation
more. The report elaborates the steps for comprehensive strategic planning process from a
situational assessment analysis up to implementing the plan. They also added note that is also

are very related to the topic. It allows us to think critically that is doable and practical in business

so much information that can be used in business proper. We also grasped the matters about
Strategic risk, as well as managing strategies.

A strategic plan entails document that can be used to communicate organizational goal, the
specific actions required to achieve the goals and other critical elements that the implementing
team develops during the planning exercise. Strategic planning is an area of management
leadership that helps managing an activity to set priorities, focus resources, ensure stakeholders
are working on common spirit, and strengthen the operations, assess the activities, set outcomes
and adjust the organizational direction to the changing environment. The group identified the
strategic risks and how to manage a strategy well along with the strategic initiatives and the
elements of the strategic performance measures and its functions.

Aside from the content, the presentation is good. The ability to choose what to include in
the slides are very intelligent. The use of smart arts add value to the presentation. Their report has
examples and graphs that helps in elaborating their topic more. The information about strategic
plan its element is organized and they also included all the sources of their report. But they're
power point is too crowded or lots of information in just one slide it is better if they summarize
some of the information. Also, the subtopics weren't organized that much, it’s nice if they made
them more appealing through the varying sizes and colors. Some information was also kind of
confusing because of the bullet points. But they also used graphs and figures which are really nice
Though despite of it, same with other groups, it is not boring to read and it is worth to read because
it will give you everything you need in terms of Strategic Planning. They have a powerful
presentation that synthesize data and information which supports company decision-making to
improve customer satisfaction, and overall financial performance.

The presentation is very informative. Each topic also includes lot of information that can
serve as additional explanations to them. The process of building a strategic plan is explained
thoroughly, as well as the topics before that.
