Target Promotion
Analysis:
Is this promotion logical and
intuitive?
This promotion is very logical and intuitive due to the fact they are triggering
consumers excitement towards Black Friday. To consumers, the term "Black
Friday" is automatically known for its amazing sales and their ability to get once in a
lifetime deals. Since this is the case, consumers are very likely to look at or click on
anything that is promoting Black Friday sales even if there isn't any other context
provided. Therefore, this promotion automatically puts Target at an advantage
when trying to sell certain products because they know they will get consumers to
look at the item and also be pretty easily convinced to purchase because of the
price. I believe this is one of the most logical promotions Target can use at this time
of the year because they will be able to carry on the promotion for an entire month
before the actual Black Friday date.
Does this promotion communicate
the sale well?
This promotion communicates the sale very well. Using a "Black Friday"
promotion is probably one of the easiest ways to communicate to a
consumer how great of a sale they are having. For Target, they decided to
use pictures of electronics as well as the electronic sale prices to show what
great of a sale consumers will not want to miss out on. Electronics are a very
popular present at Christmas time and they are often times very expensive
and have very few if any sales placed on them throughout the year. Because
of this, consumers are highly likely to want to partake in this promotion as
soon as possible.
How is the promotion's presence
online?
Target made the presence of this promotion very known on their website. Looking
at the website, this promotion is one of the first promotions posted when you scroll
through their page. This promotion is posted in large text fonts, taking up the entire
width of the page. They also used colors that set the promotion apart from all other
promotions on their page. This promotion is also very easy to view and search
through by one click of a button. However, Target did not make this promotion
known at all on their social media accounts. On twitter they mentioned one other
promotion having to do with Halloween costumes but no promotions were posted
on their Instagram.
Possible Improvements to the
Promotion:
This promotion could be improved by making it more known on their social
media presence. I couldn't find this promotion on any social media platform of
Target. I'm not sure if they have sent out any ads on social media about this
promotion but I was shocked to see it only really promoted on Target's website.
Another improvement I would make to this promotion would be to put it a little
higher up on the website. It is on the main page but it is not visible right when
you click on the website. As a frequent Target consumer, I typically don't scroll
through the home page and I immediately go to the drop down menu looking for
exactly what I need. Because of this, a large portion of consumers might miss
out on the sale and it won't be as effective as it could be.
Dress Up Boutique
Promotion Analysis:
Is this promotion logical and
intuitive?
As a consumer, I would say this promotion is logical and intuitive. Tie-dye was a
major trend throughout quarantine and people have been buying it like crazy.
However, a lot of these tie-dye items can be pretty price heavy. Therefore, I
think this promotion is very intriguing to almost all consumers who shop at this
boutique because now is the time that they can buy numerous tie-dye clothing
items for much better prices than they have seen on their site and probably
many other competing boutiques. This promotion is also very logical because it
is getting to be the colder months of the year and consumers are going to want
to buy as many cozy and cute loungewear pieces that they possibly can for more
affordable prices.
Does this promotion communicate
the sale well?
I would say this promotion communicates the sale well. This promotion is as clear
cut as it can possibly be. It communicates how the consumer can partake in the
sale, any exclusions of the sale, what the sale includes, and how long the sale is
going to go on for. I also think that because they made it a one-day only
promotion, it will be a lot more convincing to consumers to hop on the deal
immediately. Since this is the case, consumers will purchase without thinking twice
about if they actually need the items or without looking at competing options at
other stores.
How is the promotion's presence
online?
The promotion is shown very well online.
Dress Up made this promotion the first thing
shown on their website when looking at their
homepage. They also put the tie-dye section
at the top of their dropdown menu to make
sure consumers did not miss checking it out.
Dress Up also made the promotion's
presence very known on their Instagram with
multiple posts showing all of the amazing tie-
dye pieces they still had in stock that are
included in the sale.
Possible Improvements to the
Promotion:
I think this promotion did a great job of showing the four P's needed in a good
promotion. The promotion used colors and a tie-dye print that helped to promote
the product that is on sale. They promoted the discount that will get the product to
a price the consumer will enjoy. The promotion explained the location as to where
this sale can be accessed which was on their website. It was also very appropriately
communicated and promoted from the business to the consumer throughout their
online presence. The only thing I would add to this promotion would be to add
actual pictures of the product(s) on sale. This wasn't really needed on Instagram
but on their website it could be more helpful in showing the consumer the actual
product that is on sale before they actually click on the promotion.
