My journey as a student in the time of pandemic

We did not expect this pandemic would come. So, we became unprepared for what would happen. The
President put the whole country under lockdown and we quarantined our selves inside our houses because of
the fear of getting the Covid19 virus. Ever since the start of lockdown, everything became hard. The
government became strict when going outside. So, everyone should obey the health protocols posted by the
government. The jobs became work from home even the schools are not allowed doing face to face classes
and we need to do online classes. The first time I heard that we will only do online classes the first thing that
comes into my mind is that it will be hard not only for us students but also the professors. But as the online
classes goes on, I became used to it. And I realized that it wasn’t bad after all.
My journey as a student in the time of pandemic is not that bad. But not that good also. At first it is
hard for me to do online classes. Because I don’t always have that strong internet connection. During our first
online meetings, I always got disconnected because of my weak internet. Well, what would you expect with
the internet here in the Philippines. But then I discovered some ways to prevent me from disconnecting.
Listening to the discussion in online classes is also not that easy. There are always hindrances in listening well
in the discussion. First is the internet connection. The online meeting is lagging so you can’t understand your
professor well. Next is since you are only in your house you can’t avoid things that might distract you while in
your online classes. Like your pets or your younger sibling or your parents that will call you for no reason even
though you already told them that you are doing your online classes. At first it was hard because everything
you have to rely on is your laptop or cellphone and your internet. You have no books and your only reference
is the pdf file that your professor sent and the videos he makes for your lesson. And the deadline of activities
of all subjects sometimes are on the same date. That’s why it is stressful sometimes. Complying the
requirements are also not that easy because even though you are only at your house, you still need to be
creative with every tasks or activities you submit. But then as it goes on, I realize that all I need is to manage
my time.
During this pandemic I also work online as a graphic artist and it wasn’t easy managing my time. In the
morning I need to do my schools tasks and, in the evening, I will do posters and graphic designs for my clients.
it wasn’t easy because sometimes the two overlaps. But the trick I did is easy. And I’m still doing it now. Every
time a professor posts an activity on the google classroom, I will do it right away. Even though the deadline is
next week. In this manner I will always have time for some other things. And I make sure that I don’t stress
myself on the activities. I make sure that I do at least two activities a day. I do it every day until I finished every
tasks. And the remaining days are my rest. I also need to rest.
Now the end of the first semester is almost at its end, I realized that online classes are not that bad. I
think that I can still do online classes next semester. It is still somehow sad because I miss the environment of
studying at school with my friends. But I also enjoy my journey as a student during this pandemic.
