CREATIVE SESSION

BY: ANNELIE

INTRODUCTION
In the third semester, the students of Breda University of Applied Sciences had the opportunity to
facilitate a creative session to experience organizing and facilitating a small scaled (corporate) event.
In this creative session I organized a creative session for a leisure organization (Salwega). They had a
problem which they needed help with solving. It was a 2 ½ hour session where we discuss the
problem and brainstorm together to get a possible solution.

The problem they need help with is thinking of ways to collect money to finance their summer camp
of 2021. They need new and creative ways to collect money, by letting the children participate in the
activities they come up with, they will be collecting money.

PROJECT DEFINITION
During the creative session, the team members are supposed to complete two creative techniques
and a energizer to create the best possible outcome of the problem. During the creative session they
will use creative techniques which they can master and use for later use as well. The team members
will learn how to correctly brainstorm and work together. It is mainly focused on relationship
enhancement and team bonding to create the ultimate team work.

PROJECT RESULTS
The results of the creative session are subcategorized into three different dimensions, the output,
the outcome and the impact. With this creative session we are aiming for the organization to gain
information and knowledge regarding the different creative techniques approaches and how to
communicate and work well in a team environment. One of the end results will be information about
the creative techniques, pictures of the creative session and the creative activities to collect
money. This can be achieved by giving an interactive creative session where they gain knowledge
about the topic, experience and learn everything they need to know.

The output of the project are the results of the creative techniques that will take place during the
creative session.
The outcome of the project is the activities which solves the problem they have. They will also gain
information and knowledge they will be able to use for later use.
The impact of the project is that they will be able to build the team work that is necessary and will be
able to continue building their relationships.

There are a few requirements to ensure the success of the end product. Namely:
 The theory used in the meeting is from reliable sources
 The information provided is useful and reliable
 The post-exposure is useful
 Photos are taken during the creative session
 Evaluating the creative session
 Having fun and educating the organization is off importance

CREATIVE TECHNIQUES:
Number one:
6-3-5 method
What you need:
Participants: 6 min
Materials: posters (A2-A4) and pens.

Step 1: The first step is that the six or more people write down 3 ideas per person on a piece of paper
at the same time. Then when they all wrote down 3 ideas, they will pass on their paper to the person
next to them.
Step 2: Once the neighbour receives the piece of paper, everyone will write down 3 ideas based on
the previous 3 words written on the piece of paper.

Step 3: Then the paper will be passed onto the next person sitting next door and they will write down
3 ideas based on previous ideas.

Step 4: This process will carry on till every person has written down 3 ideas on each persons paper.

Step 5: This will therefore bring more then a hundred new ideas ( 6 people x 3 ideas x 6 different
variants = 108)

The 6-3-5 brainwriting focuses on developing and refining ideas, and thus and thus developing
completely new trains of collaborative thoughts and ideas as a team.

Number two:
Yes and…..
Step 1: A person from the team expresses a word or an idea. And tells it to the group

Step 2: Someone (the next person) will agree on this idea (“Yes”) and will add a spontaneous
decision, association or ideas(“and then) on top of the beginning idea.

Step 3: The person then accepts the ideas given and continues to expound upon them. This process
continues until you have a story that you can and want to use.

The yes and technique is used to validate and explore all new spontaneous and interesting ideas.
Everyone is freely, actively and creatively participating. Thus all possible ways and styles of thinking
are integrated. Through spontaneity, acceptance, freedom and validation of others and each other,
the group will develop together more innovative ideas.

Energizer:
Countdown
The energizer goes as follows, you have to count from 1 to 20. It is however not as simple as it sounds, there is
one rule: there is no particular order of who says it when. You have to yell the consecutive number whenever you
want. But when two or more people say the same number at the same time, you start counting from the
beginning again so from 1.
