    REMOVE tourniquet from the INSERT the wounded extremity POSITION the tourniquet above the
    JFAK and/or carrying pouch. through the loop of the tourniquet bleeding site, high on the extremity
    band. over the clothing/uniform.

    GRASP the tourniquet loop with TIGHTEN the tourniquet strap as LIFT the lever arm of the ratcheting
    your teeth (or if able lean against much as possible. buckle and tighten by ratcheting
    a hard surface) to prevent slipping the tourniquet until bleeding has
    when tightening. stopped (complete steps 1-5 in
    under 1 min).

    LOCK the ratchet on itself If no other major bleeding is


    (it will click into place). present, MOVE TO COVER.

    NOTE: If bleeding is not controlled, continue to ratchet the maneuver device until bleeding has stopped.

    NOTE: Do not document tourniquet application time until the Tactical Field Care phase.
