SKILL INSTRUCTIONS

ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMBAT WOUND MEDICATION PACK (CWMP) INSTRUCTION

TASK: Administer a Combat Wound Medication Pack


CONDITION: Given a scenario where the casualty and responder are in combat gear and the casualty
has injuries that have been treated, is in pain and/or has penetrating trauma, and
can swallow
STANDARD: Administer a CWMP following all steps and meeting all performance measures without
causing further injury to the casualty
EQUIPMENT: Combat Wound Medication Pack

PERFORMANCE MEASURES: step-by-step instructions


01 Check to ensure that the casualty has no known drug allergies to the medications from the
CWMP (ask the casualty or locate their red dog tag).
02 If the casualty has pain, severe combat wounds, and is conscious and can swallow, administer all
pills (pain medication and antibiotics) from the CWMP with water.
03 If the casualty has an eye injury, and is conscious and can swallow, administer all pills from the
CWMP with water.
04 Document all findings and treatments on a DD Form 1380 TCCC Casualty Card and attach it to
the casualty.
