1) IN WHAT WAY THAT NSTP CLASS IS BENEFICIAL ASIDE FROM

ROTC/WATC/CMT CLASS, AND WHY?

National Service Training Program mainly refers to the program aimed at
enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth, by developing
the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training specifically designed to
enhance the youth's active contribution to the general welfare. For some NSTP is only
an act of compliance to graduate. Completing the course is only one of those subjects in
college that needs to be passed. However, I believe that NSTP is more than what
stereotypes think of it as "time-consuming", "for the point of compliance" and "for
additional increase in students' GWA".

For me, NSTP is an escape. Not a bad one but a fruitful escape. I consider it as an
escape because it reminds us students to be human and the importance of humanity.
We, most of the time, are all caught up on our academics, bringing our calculators,
gigantic books and making libraries as our second home. Thus, we forget to mingle with
the people around us. We forget that we are not just a student but a friend, daughter
and part of the community. NSTP, for me, breaks that notion. It awakes students up
from academics and lets us engage in the community we are in. Also, NSTP hones us
to be better citizens of the country. For me, it serves as a "final coaching" on stepping
outside the university with character, proper values and prepared with what lies ahead.
It trains us to be the better version of ourselves. It teaches us humility, generosity, and
wit in times when unexpected problems arise. It broadens our critical thinking skills that
encompasses academics but real-life experiences.

NSTP class is not only for compliance as a student. It is a compliance to be a better

citizen and to be a better citizen is to be able to serve the country and co-countrymen.
